Dude people had a right to be pissed.

Stop being a fanboy.

Oh lawd.
Disagreeing with immaturity =/= being a fanboy.

Sorry, but when someone makes a topic that basically says, "Bungie may have handled today's situation terribly and disappointed many fans, BUT AT LEAST DEY R SO NIEC WE SHUD STILL BEEE NIEC 2 DEM RITE GAIZ!!", my fanboys alert goes weewooweewoo.

Edit: Oh and before you flame me for being butthurt or something, I in fact luckily aquired a swag bag from the bungie store at like 6.

Yeah, we should be nice. They lost a -blam!- load of money on all this merchandise that they handed to us for free, then donated those proceeds to charity. They release that they are going to work with the community to help develop new mobile games, and we have more to come.
Everything they've done up to this point is to make this an awesome time for us and everyone involved with Bungie. Things got way out of hand today, but it also all happened really fast, the fanbase nor Bungie knew what was happening until the Bags O' Swag were gone.

It's not called being a fanboy, it's called being appreciative and respectful towards a friendly gesture. Not a lot of studios go out of their way like Bungie does to ensure the fans are having a good time as well.

The point is that you can't freaking disregard every single mistake someone makes.

Seriously, every single time Bungie screws up there has to be those kiss ups preaching about how we should simply "forgive them" and "remember that they gave us this" and such.

Maybe because we should remember what they gave us. It's not kissing up, it's being appreciative. We weren't entitled to anything here, it was a cutthroat competition to begin with. Things just happened to go very wrong today, due to Amazon blowing up (Amazon, not Bungie).
Sure, Bungie moved the Bags O' Swag to another Amazon account, but they made sure to have someone come here and let us know they were legit. Was it a moment too late for some? Yes. But I doubt there's any one job at Bungie to make sure the fans are in the loop every minute of every second. They could have updated their Twitter, but they didn't. Again, this has always been about who wanted the Bags the most and who was willing to do the most to get them. In this case it was having Amazon open in one window and the Bungie forums open in the other in case I missed any details.

You can be jelly all you want, but the bottom line is they're giving more than they're taking here. Being mad over mistakes that can't be fixed is pointless, especially since 90% of those mistakes weren't even on Bungie's part. I was mad initially when it was all going down, but after learning their side of the story and that not a lot could have been done to help the situation, I let it go. Especially after looking at everything they're giving out right now.

Well said everyone, but remember everything bungie is doing right now is for charity. That's the most important thing.

Lol. Wow guys. They give us twenty years of great games and a great community and we give them crap for a mistake they had no control over. Guys in case you haven't noticed it is the fanboys who made bungie who they are today. The swag bags are for charity for heaven's sake. Yes I got a bag and I'm happy I was able to give my money towards a good cause. Honestly I would gladly give my bag away to keep some of the whiners quiet. I almost wish Bungie would have just given the bags away to the charity so we wouldn't have had all of this hooblah. The bags were a gift and we treated it like it was our right to have. Fanboys: keep doing your thing. You make fellow fans like me proud to call myself apart of this community. For all of you whiners out there who thought it was their right to have a bag: nothing is given to you in real life. The bags have come and gone and i am sure there will be other opportunities to get one. In the meantime enjoy being a part of one of the greatest communities in all time and play some dang halo reach. It's steak time guys!!!! Chill out have fun and look for a nice tbone in the mail. Look out bungie here we come!!!!

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Theres a difference between being an apologist and not being a petulant ass when things don't go your way. The OP is the latter.

Amidst the blatant duplicity ("I love Bungie but I'll skewer them the second I even think they'll disappoint me") of the majority of the community I did see people genuinely trying to be helpful and pointing others in the right direction instead of moaning about how unfair life is (or the like), so I guess that's a reason to still believe in the worth of this community.

  • 06.30.2011 10:22 PM PDT

I tried to point everyone towards the second swag bags, they all said it was a scam and didn't believe me. No matter how many times I tried to convince them.

You have to understand, it looked incredibly sketchy. Especially since they said they'd give us an ETA. I'm sure people appreciate it now, but in the moment it looked like a scam.

I'm really surprised that most of the community thinks that the Swag Bags are the only worthwhile thing in the store

I agree. I grabbed a couple shirts and a few posters and I am more than happy with those pick ups. Fantastic bungie memorabilia/gear/

Well there was one post by a Bungie worker that said it wasn't fake. Also it made sense to me that bungie wouldn't be able to restock with all the people f5ing. And the whole "bungie got hacked" business was nonsense. I understand it seemed fishy, but I compared the risk to my next chance of getting a bag. I decided that with it being amazon, who I trust to refund me, it was worth the risk. I just hope that this one guy got the bag for his friend in Iraq, if that was a true story.

It happened too fast for some. I was able to snag one last minute right after hearing official word. Even then I was a bit weary about it.

Saddest part is that Bungie announced/revealed what AeroSpace is today and yet all the commotion on the Swag Bad completely overtook the discussion about their new project to help indie devs.

They wrote "an audience with our community" on their press release today. Yet there is a so many materialistic and immature people on the forums that it's hard to call it a community...sometimes.

People were too fixated on the project being a game, hardly anyone cares about it unfortunately :|

Sadly I'm probably too young to paticipate in this, just like beta testing and Bungie vs. The world.

Indeed. The problem was community taking Aerospace out of context. Then again it was also inevitable.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

It's depressing. Funny thing is that they only lost money for doing this. What other developer would ever do something like that?

Yea, the forums were pretty chaotic today towards the Bag O' Swags....

I didn't bother with it because I knew all of that stuff was gonna end up in a closet.
