DeeJ's Challenge

I'm so happy that I decided to avoid the forums yesterday. Basically at 9:00 Central, I just played video games instead of coming here...which is pretty bad considering that I love the Community Forum.

I can only imagine the carnage that ensued...

It's not called being a fanboy, it's called being appreciative and respectful towards a friendly gesture. Not a lot of studios go out of their way like Bungie does to ensure the fans are having a good time as well.

This is a good quote to keep in mind.

I never got mad at Bungie, I got mad at the fact that after like 6 hours of trying to get one, I stop to make dinner and eat dinner and I miss out :( I took my anger out in the form of a smartass comment on one forum goer. Immediately after hitting submit and rereading what I wrote him I sent him a PM apologizing profusely. It was a very rough time on the forums but luckily it's all behind us and we can continue learning about Aerospace and what's next for us!

The fire that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
Burn Bright , Burn Blue!

I know this is completely unrelated to everything but...
How do you get your halo reach avatar to update?
Mine has been the same for ages even though i changed it ages ago

"Who gives a blam about the blamming charity, this is all about getting the swag!"

"Blam the kids, no-one gives a blam about them, I just want a blamming bag!"

Give an exact quote of each.

Not like it matters though. The fact that is was charity is, in this case, irrelevant.

I can't be bothered to go and dig out the quotes to appease you tbh. It was around the 70-80 page mark of Komark's 100+ page thread. One of the guys had a cat as his avatar if I recall correctly.

Furry At Heart,
Furry Forever óÓÒò

Supreme mastery therefore, is not to be victorious in all your battles; supreme excellence is to be victorious without fighting.

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. "

I didn't even try to get one because I knew the odds were so slim. I'm happy with my burn bright, burn blue shirt.

And I stayed out of this forum for the last few days because I figured that a spam-fest like this would happen.

I would have expected this from the Reach forum or maybe the Flood, but I've always thought the Septagon was mature enough to acknowledge that not everything happens perfectly or the way you want it to.

Bungie gave us ten years of an amazing game series and ten more of great games before that. And how does the community show their thanks? By whining like damn six year olds arguing over that shiny new toy.

Bungie does have to keep their business, and we did pay for the things they made, but using that as a reason to disregard all the awesome things they've given us is extremely conceited and dickish. I didn't think of buying their stuff as paying for a product. I thought of it as a way of saying thank you to Bungie for making awesome games.

That's what we should be doing this Bungie day.

In any case, pissing and whining about it isn't going to change anything. So stop. You're just wasting your breath.

Well said, I got to the point when I just had to leave this forum cos it was embarrassing to read half the comments and topics.

congrats to anyone who managed to get a bag, unlucky if you didn't.
I don't think most of the kids raging normally hang here.

Hey guys I'm kind of new to the whole forum scene but yesterday when I came on to let other members know that the bags were up I was called a liar troll and idiot for trying to help and the sad thing is that i was immediately reported for even attempting to help other people out on swag bags. I rarely post anything out here but after the craziness of the previous few days I am shocked. I am truly ready for this bag o swag nonsense to be over so we can get back to some form of normalcy around here. I just wanted to apologize to all the regulars here for the spamming and bs tied to the recent events. I may not have been on of the ones spamming but I see it fit for someone to say something.

Bungie Day '11 Community Mosaic Thread

Posted by: Malloy05
everybody listen to mac2po he is 100% right

The entire situation was messed up. I remember seeing a lot of tweets replying to Bungie complaining about the Bags. It was an accident, and one shouldn't change how you think of Bungie. Would you get this mad at the Government every time you lost the lottery? Quite childish when you think about it.

  • 07.01.2011 7:40 AM PDT

I saw when complaints first started to rise up but it seems it went out of control. Why all this for a bag that has some video game items in it? Talk about no life when you start having a tantrum over a bag on a video game forum.

You're implying they did okay, or good, or decent. You're wrong, the way they handled this situation was terrible and in no way positive.

some of Urk's comments from yesterday:

1) "Truth be told, we don't know if they're gone or not. The Amazon store front is experiencing technical issues. As soon as we hear back from them, we'll have a better picture of what in the world is going on and where we're at in terms of numbers.

Sorry for all the confusion. We're trying to keep everybody updated at the same time we're fighting the fires."

2) "I'll keep everybody in the loop as best I can. Thanks for all the patience. We knew people would dig the Swag Bags and wanted to make them a great value, but we really didn't anticipate this kind of overwhelming response. They're limited because many of them are a mix of new items, historical swag, and signed stuff. We're boxing them all right here in the studio (so some will probably include Bungie dandruff, too!)."

3) "We've been trying to shut [the ability to add the swag bag to cart] down for a while now. :\"

See? How is ANY of this Bungie's fault? Apparently they couldn't even make an announcement because Amazon wasn't keeping THEM up to date. To my knowledge, nobody even knows if it was Bungie who added the second swag page. That could have been Amazon (the store is totally separate from Bnet).

I understand why people were frustrated; it's understandable. But taking it out on Bungie was uncalled for.

Anyway, thanks to the people who kept their cool, and thank you Bungie.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, and I doubt that it will be a fruitful means of chastisement, but here goes.

As I watched the "Bag O' Swag" drama unfold today, I found myself woefully disappointed by the Bungie Community. The forums, reviews, and twitter feeds were filled with rage towards a developer that so many claim to respect and admire. These posts of angst revealed a depth of ungratefulness matched only by a high sense of self-entitlement. "Long-time" and "diehard" fans devolved into whining, fair-weather bandwagoneers, so easily provoked to jump ship at the slightest disappointment.

I tried a few times throughout the day to score a Bag; I endured the cycle of hope, excitement, confusion, and disappointment as I added a Bag to my cart, only to have Amazon tell me there were none available. I didn't get a bag, and that's disappointing. Yet my disappointment is greatly tempered by the hours of enjoyment that I have experienced, and will experience, as I play a game over which so many labored tirelessly.

Thankfully, I was not the only one who shrugged off disappointment. Though they were few and far between, others in the Community shared their grateful respect and admiration for Bungie despite the circumstances of the day. Hats off to you, kindred spirits and true fans.

Happy Anniversary, Bungie! Thank you for the incredible ride: this fan remembers fondly the pre-Halo days. Keep up the good work - I can't wait to see what comes next!

I think it would have been nice for the people who stayed up late etc for a couple hours or who sat at the computer in the middle of the day for 3 hours to get a little more info from Bungie while the crap was going down.

I was at work so other than checking a few times around 10am yesterday, I didn't bother with the Sacks. Looking at the crap storm afterwards, I can see why so many people are raging.

ISU Cyclones!

Can't we just gear up to prepare for the next batch of complaining about how hard it was to find Bungie employees in the Bungie day playlist?

They say that kiddie's got soul

InBonniesKitchen

Agreed. I went through the UPS and DOWNS yesterday to, but I found some happy peace knowing that most of the bags only had some notebooks and cds in other words stuff not that special.

As for me, I will be buying a shirt and shipping it to my friend who is attending PAX this year in order for Bungie to sign it. That to me is way more valuable then a bag. Also when I attend PAX east I plan to create my own swag bags and give them away to the true fans.
