Once I read the OP, I thought of SuperPokenerd >.>
Who is this guy and what did he do? Did I miss something because I was here when the rants were beginning to come up.

On the huge thread, he was going on about "No one cares about the charity, they just want the bags." "Bungie conned us."
etc.

I find it funny how the unnecessarily mention Pokenerd is Honorable.

Also, I think WAAAAAAAAAYY too many people are over-reacting about this "o noo, teh matuur community of bungeh r actually butthurt!" I mean, so we had some people go rage, big deal, get over it. It's over now, no needto make a freaking article and other threads about it.

Can we end this silly "rep" thing?

People actually give a toss about rank?

OT: In every community a small minority will cause havoc, and that draws the attention.

Yeah, most here do, and it's pretty disturbing.

Like whenever a Heroic, Legendary, or Mythic member makes an angry or troll comment, everyone's reaction is usually "*GAAAASP* FROM A MYTHIC????!!! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT??!?!" or "oooooooh you're gonna lose your legendary status, haha!" as if people actually care.

OT: Honestly guys, the community had a good reason to be upset. I don't see how you think they didn't.

I was young, I was surviving the times. Waiting for my moment I was destined to shine. And I seized it!

Everyone needs to relax and put their lives in perspective. Riled over video game memorobilia? Ahhhh....

Why do people think that it's sad when anyone gets angry over anything that isn't debt or life problems? :/ really annoys me.

Actually, I was trying to say that I find the author's mention that an "Honorable" member, someone who is assumingly a very loyal fan, would get mad and complain. The writer's usage of the ranking system is terrible.

And I think I just repeated what you said. Basically that because high-ranking people on this forum started complaining, everyone thought that even the dedicated members of the Bungie community have gone ravenous.

It only takes a couple of rash posts to ruin a reputation.

Exactly, showing that someone writing an article can spin it in any direction.

UNSC Leviathan

Wow. I had no idea something like this even happened. What a shame.

  • 07.01.2011 9:11 AM PDT

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

The "Honorable Member" they quoted was a twelve year old, obviously. He didn't care about proper punctuation, capitalization, or bother to get the couldn't care less correct. It really isn't difficult to figure out it is couldn't care less. Use your head before you bother speaking your thoughts that are stupid to begin with. Idiot.

You can talk, thanks to what happened on February 28th or so, you are the only b.net member I still have extreme bitterness with to this very day. Anywhooooo....

READ IT.

I won the Star. With this on Week 18.

It was all to do with Bungie's twitter... They said 10am July 30th. Then said not long after 10am that the Amazon page was DDOS, and said they would keep us updated. They didn't keep us updated, except for the weird hint on the original Bag of Swag page.

Anyways, I think people should shut up about this, and get over it.

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

That was as "fair and balanced" as Fox News. Seriously, I hope that guy never gets a job in journalism because that was horrific.

My name is Tyler. Computers and Video games is what I love to do.

Wow, thats sad, when peple don't get what they want they freak out. Even if I didn't get a swag bag I would still love Bungie.

Very disapointed in those people who were that immature.

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

But some fans were in it for the bag, not just because it went to charity. I'll say my intention of buying the bag was to get some cool stuff from Bungie. It's just an added bonus that it goes to give a child less fortunate than myself an iPad. It was handled less than stellar between Bungie, Amazon, and the fans. In the end, this is what happened and we have to deal with it.

Yes there were people who were acting like complete asses, but I don't think that anyone should judge a community based on the vocal minority of jerks.

Though I don't like what this will do to the outsider's view of the Bungie community, which I had always had pride in. I still do, as I think we are one of the strongest video game developer communities around, but it's never good when a few jerks ruin it for the rest of us.

Bungie didn't deserve the ridiculous level of outcry that they saw.

All achivement in halo 3, ODST, and halo wars... cept a general

Im not gonna deny that im sad i didnt get one, after all i wanted to celebrate and buy somthing to remember them by. But for -blam!-s sake its for chairity. Im not going to turn on bungie after playing their games for ten years.

Pwned

I'm not mad at bungie or anything I'm just a little butt-hurt I couldn't get my hands on one. Like I said in the other thread bungie could have handled it better. They could have made a bunch of bags with less rare items, which would create more bags, which would thus equal to less people like me whining. Also putting out a time they would release the bags was a massive mistake. They should of given us a days heads up at most. That way dedicated people like my self who stayed up 36+ hours would have gotten one. And completely releasing bags after they said amazon went down and ETA was to be announced was a huge kick in the nuts for me. The 30 minutes I take a break out of 36 hours is when they release them, very uncool.

Edit: However I grew up on the Halo series and I'm still a fan boy at heart.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

Just like the media, pick out the worst of a community and make it look like the whole.

Us?
Well some of us are agreeing with the article, while some of us are disagreeing.
Other people?
They think they were special and deserved a swag bag.

What I meant by saying "people," I was directing that towards the ones who really cursed Bungie out for the Bag O' Swag "disaster".

  • 07.02.2011 11:47 AM PDT

It's really sad that people give more crap about themselves then children in hospitable. Maybe Bungie should be given the Ipads to them so they can -blam!- learn some -blam!-.

This is a disgrace, more than the year long constant complaints on Reach. When will this community ever be satisfied?

That's the number of bans in this thread. Next time you want to derail something, go stand in front of a train.

I managed to get one of these bags on the 30th.

I had the option to buy them in the first batch, before announced, however I decided against it because the shipping was just as much as the bag.

The second time, I realised I would quite like one of these, regardless on the price since Bungie is a company I enjoy supporting. I knew the money would go to charity, which although I would prefer to pick my own charity to donate I decided to purchase it (at the price of 78 of your American dollars), and I'll be honest, partly for the chance of getting some cool swag, but also to know that the money isn't going to line peoples pockets, but to actually help people.

My opinion here, the minority was an absolute disgrace over what happened. I only managed to get one because someone said to search bungie and you can find the swag bag there. I did so and managed to get one.

Would I be annoyed if I missed the chance? Of course. Would I care so much to make topics going crazy about it? Of course not.

This shows how selfish people can be. I'm sure quite a few people are buying it only for the chance of some cool stuff and don't care where the money goes, but the fact Bungie is giving away stuff worth more than we're paying, and passing on the profits to charity shows they how much they care.

Giving some cool stuff to the community that helped them become where they are, but also to help those in need.

Don't know what else to say, but if you read all this...sir, I congratulate you.

Agree with me? Awesome. Don't? Oh well, nothing gained nothing lost.
