Subject: We had every right to be mad.

These threads show how much this community has gone down the tubes. I can't stand how all the people think we're just spoiled little kids who are mad because we didn't get what we wanted.

Let me start out by saying
I'm not mad I didn't get a Bag O' Swag, I'm mad because of the events that happened

Bungie tweeted THEMSELVES
Understand the anger and confusion. We're frustrated, too. As soon as we get info on Bag O' Swag/store status, we'll update you.

So is the community saying we don't have a right to be mad? They know that this situation didn't work the way they wanted it, SO WHY CAN'T THE COMMUNITY ACCEPT THE FACT THAT BUNGIE MESSED UP?

Yes people got caught up in the moment and said harsh things, but we waited for hours. Most of us have been playing since the beginning and we just wanted a keepsake. Yes it was all for charity and that is an incredible thing to do...but you can't deny this was a mess.

As I said before I'm mad at how this went down. I had bungie's facebook, twitter, both amazon and bungie's bag o swag page open. But then a random page out of the blue came up, and the bags were made by a different company? What were we supposed to do..bungie wasn't confirming them as real so we were nervous to pay.

I'm not turning my back on bungie, because Halo has been such a big part of my life. But I really hope the community can stop being such asses and realize that not everyone who ranted about the Bags is a 12 year old little boy crying because he didn't get what he wanted. We're ranting because of how this event was poorly executed.

I hope you can understand.

EDIT: This isn't a rant how I didn't get a bag. It's a rant about how the community thinks not everyone can state their opinion.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Stay calm dude.

There where many fans who wanted swag an unfortunately not everyone could get one.

To get the swag bag, you had to go the extra mile AND be lucky.

Don't feel mad, many people didn't get one.

Yeah, things happen. We cannot always foresee what will take place with events such as this... Soon it will pass, we will all look back on this day and laugh.

You mad bro?

lol jking

Anyways, I totally understand what you are saying. I didn't want to spend the money on a swag bag so I didn't worry about it. I get on here and everyone is flipping out about how they didn't get it. It is a limited edition Item, If they made millions of them they wouldn't be worth as much.

I understand that there were problems between amazon and Bungie, but is it really that big of a deal? So you didn't get a swag bag, so what? A lot of money was given to charity and it isn't going to "destroy your life" because you didn't get one.

This is one of the reasons why people around the world have problems with Americans. They think we are all spoiled brats and this just proves that theory. (NOTE: I am American) It is a real shame how selfish people can be these days.

Cry me a river build me a bridge and get the hell over it. No plan is perfect. Yes it could've been done better. But that kind of thinking is for the birds. Just accept what happened and get on with your life.

You are the reason I made this thread. Why won't the community allow us to be mad? Is there a reason it always needs to be ponies and rainbows 100 percent of the time.

Why is my thinking for the birds? I'm not really sure where your coming from.

Yes, smart one. My post was not directed at you but at everyone. I wasn't saying anything against what you were saying about being allowed to be mad. But in reality I was just stating for all those mad that is it really that big of a deal?

Don't listen to em. Be mad if you really want to. This is a public forum and nobody but Bungie can tell you how to act. Should you be mad? Probably not, it's really not that big a deal IMO. I spent 6-7 hours trying to get one, didn't get one, and got over it. No big shakes on my part. I'm not one, however, to tell you how you should feel. No body else has the ability nor the right to tell you how to feel.

It's funny because they didn't. It was a problem on Amazon's end, Bungie was completely out of the loop. If you stopped being butthurt long enough to read what they said, you would've known that. So grow up.

So when did Bungie get the info that they were supposed to share? As you quote, them sharing the info requires they first get that info. So can you tell me when they got it? I'm sure you already know this and it will be easy to answer, since it's such a crucial part of the reason why you're upset.

Here's the reason a lot of us were/are upset: Bungie was based on making games and decisions based on the COMMUNITY. In an age where means of communicating with mass groups of people in an instant are endless, we got virtually nothing.

- A Facebook post tells us the stuff is going live any minute. Get your F5 fingers ready.

- Minutes later, a tweet states that due to all the F5ing, the Amazon servers DDOS'd.

- Shortly after, we get word that Amazon Support is working on the issues and there is no ETA of when it will be up.

Most of us are fine up to that point. We're getting communication and info about what is going on. Then, it gets ugly.

- Swag bags go up on Gorilla. People jump on orders, then hear it is a scam. People ask for confirmation from Bungie and don't get it. Many cancel their orders.

- A new listing goes up in the Bungie Store as well as on Amazon without anyone knowing. When people attempt to purchase, it states that there's none left. People ask if they are sold out again. No communication.

- Even though the listing clearly states 1 per customer, people are bragging how they bought 3, 5, 10, 20 bags. Rumors begin about orders over 1 being cancelled. Again, no communication.

- 4 hours after we're told there's no ETA, Bungie tweets an apology during all the melee telling us Stosh tripped over a cord. Thanks for the slap in the face.

- 20 minutes later, another tweet telling us what happened. Why not send this out in the midst of all the confusion? Maybe something like, "Bags will be up under a new listing but won't be available for purchase just yet. Hang in there."

We felt like Bungie just lost touch with what makes them a great company: Their involvement with the community. In recent weeks, they've gone away from that. Add in the overall disappointment by the community surrounding Aerospace (not saying it's a bad thing, just no reason to keep a press release about mobile gaming and indie developers secret) and you can see the frustration.

Yes, all proceeds go to charity. Yes, I got a bag, but only because I was raging in the forums did I see there were still bags available. In the end, I hope Bungie realizes what they mean to the community and that all we want is to be treated with the same respect we've shown them in the past.

  • 07.01.2011 8:19 AM PDT

You guys are disappointing. Obviously it isn't the entire community that is like this, but it is the outspoken ones that give Bungie's fans a bad reputation.

The swag bags were not the main event. You are not going to be sent a gold bar, or a diamond-encrusted Urk statue. You get swag. If you're a diehard fan, you're probably going to have one or two things that you get.

Do not let this overshadow the forthcoming events. It is now less than a week until Bungie day, which is all that needs true celebration.

Seems to me that Bungie was just as much out of the loop as the rest of us and that only Amazon knew what was going on.

Bungie was clearly trying to keep folks informed, and then something happened ON AMAZON (not Bungie), and Bungie likely didn't know about it until much later (4 hours later it seems). Then when Bungie did find out, they got back to work trying to get the info out.

That's what I see here, not a company that stayed in touch to a point and then chose to cut off contact and let folks fend for themselves.

Ken, just stop.

Every thread you post in you are telling everyone else to stop being angry, while you revel in the fact that you have secured a bag.

I can 100% guarantee that you would be raging just as hard if not harder than everyone else if you had not spent your parent's money and your whole day F5ing until you had a bag. I don't agree with the rage over a 30 dollar bag of random items, but it's getting tiring seeing you post this in every thread.

As for the OP, if you are taking the swag bags this seriously, perhaps it is time to take a break from the internet? You don't have a right to be mad, it was Bungie's choice to release the bags of swag in the first place, and even if not every spoiled -blam!- managed to get one, all of the proceeds are going to charity anyways. You really need to get over it.

Your reasoning for being angry doesn't matter, at all. Perhaps the event was poorly executed, it could all be on Amazon, it could all be on Bungie, but that's the thing, it really doesn't matter, you should be happy they even had the event in the first place.

Fans were able to get Bags of Swag, and everything went to charity. You didn't get one, and now it is time to get over it and go outside or do something else, as you clearly are taking this a little too seriously.

All I'm saying is if they don't know, why not tell us? Does Urk really do much more than that, anyways?

I totally get what you mean, it was poorly executed, but there were so many threads and so many people yelling about how they didnt get a bag... its like playing the lottery, you may get lucky, you may not. And because all of the swag was so limited, they couldnt have come up with a better system to distribute them other than the luck of the draw, as for the whole "right to be mad thing", you dont have one. Bungie said that they were only gonna sell a few, and thats what they did.... why would anyone be mad? i could see a little dissappointment, but anger at Bungie is a little ridiculous
