I do believe the emulator has to be saved onto the hard disk, get one, they're worth it.

I bought Halo 2 today and was really excited (yes im that sad) but when i put it into my 360 and it says i need a hardrive!

Why do i need a hard drive to play original xbox games?
I think it does have something to do with the 360 emulator on the HDD so xbox1 games can be played. I'm not sure why I would ever buy a console without a HDD, it just seems it would be like running your computer with a DVD drive instead of a HDD.

What can you do without a HDD on your console?

Fada beo Halo 2!

That's the worst thing, I did the same thing, but someone told me that it wouldn't work :(. now i have a 20 gig harddrive but it messes up Halo Reach on xbox live :(. bottom line: enjoy the original xbox, and hate the 360.

R.I.P. Halo 2 11/9/04-4/15/10
If you havn't played Halo 2 online than you are missing so much. Plus if you have played a good amount of Halo 2 online, I might have a better chance of listening to anything you say.

You need a hard drive because original xbox games were only built to be compatible with a hard drive. There is no option to not save on the original xbox and that is why.

You should be mad that you bought halo 2. A working halo 2 is about as valuable as a broken halo 2.
