Do you think the coming of Halo vista will bring in a new generation of Fans who are PC gamers? I think it will. I think It will also bring some halo haters to hte community and thats not good. What do you think. Will halo vista be good for the community or bad for it. Or all you more or less neutral like I am?

I am far more concerned about the next project. I don't think Halo 2 for PC will have a large effect on the forums.

Agreed. The main place that will benefit from it is the Maw. Most of the members won't go upgrade or buy a new PC to play a game they already have.

I personally think their actual next project will have more of an impact that Halo 2 PC will, though of course i'm sure it will have impact to some degree as it's really opening up the Halo 2 experience to a whole new market of gamers.

Not really, given that most PC gamers who want to play Halo would have already.

I think we underestimate the effect of Halo 2 Vista. Halo PC players who are members here are asking for a new forum. I think that while the next project will bring a lot of new members, Halo 2 PC is going to bring many as well.

There's a graph somewhere that we could check for a community jump in bungie.net once Halo 2 PC is released. While it won't settle this arguement now, it'll be somewhat interesting to check when the game is released.

Let's see if I can find that graph...

Ah, here we are. That graph shows the activity of the community on bungie.net. As you can see, there was a huge spike at Halo 2's release. So we can check this for a related (but probably much smaller) spike.

I think it will bring in a new "wave" of ppl here, but I don't think it will revolutionize B.net...if anything it will have an impact on the forums and how the new ones might be conceived with the release of the "next project"

i know. Thank you all who have shared youre opinions so far. Anyway, i thought that many people who havent played halo and who are pc gamers will get halo 2 for pc and like it, this will probably cause a spike in the active members because they will here of this sight and check it out. The only thing im worried about is halo haters coming in after playing the game and starting to bash on it in all forums possible.

Yep. Right now the forum is in 'hibernation'. There is not so much to talk about as there was while Halo 2 was in development. Sure theirs a few months after the release where people praise/moan about the game....then the downloads sparked an interest but that quickly died.

When the next game is announced and the appropriate forum board is made, expect a lot more people online. The moderators are going to have there work cut out if the project is not Halo 3 however.

True, but what i ment was that it would open it up to a wider audience.

Nah, the general consensus from the PC gaming community was that H1PC was -blam!-, so we all went back to our CS1.6 and thought "Wow... H1PC really was quite -blam!-, what in god's name were gearbox thinking releasing that -blam!- piece of -blam!-". Speaking as a PC gamer, i totally agree with that statement.

A small (and i do mean small, H2PC is being done way too late to have any real effect on the PC community) chunk of the PC gaming community is however waiting in anticipation of H2PC, but i personally think it's going to fail quite miserably as it's being done too late, for vista, and Halo PC's gamers are all 56k wielding decrepid-pc using dinosaurs, so they don't stand a chance in hell of playing anything newish, so i wouldn't expect much of a community migration.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Id go with maybe a small influx of new PC gaming members, but not tons like for xbox halo 2, not even close.

Congratulations! You have managed to disgust me! I'd give you a medal or something, but I'm a bit busy right now. I hope you're happy!

So I think we have a verdict: The release of Halo 2 Vista will bring in a small flux of members, but nothing on the scale of the release of Halo 2 for Xbox (or anything similar).
