So today I bought myself a new copy of Halo 2. I was fortunate enough to acquire the last copy available from the store. Unfortunately though when I started campaign, a weird burn effect occurred, it was very small and only happened to the top half of the screen. But it was very apparent. As time went on, it only got worse. Eventually at times taking up a quarter of the screen. I then proceeded to look through various forums and articles that may provide a solution. So far I have got the following: Restart Xbox 360, Go back to dashboard, and go back to the game menu. These solutions only help for a short time. Could someone who owns and plays Halo 2 on an Xbox 360 Pro help? If it helps, I play on a Xbox 360 Pro and this effect only occurs on Halo 2 campaign. Thank you!

Welcome to the club, there is no fix. All you can do is restart the box or eject the disk and start over. I once spent about 18 hours on a vehicle collection on Quarantine Zone and then got the dreaded shadows and it ruined everything. I got out my old box and only used it to play H2.

Okay, good to hear...sort of. I really don't mind it, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't my console or television acting up.

P.S. Do you know how to download the extra H2 maps?

You mean the last 2? No but all the rest are on disks and sold in stores or ebay.

That is the effect of emulation, as Grumpy said, try your old xbox.

Donuts > all other food

It's a screen glitch that only happens on a 360, unfortunately.

The worst one is on "The Gravemind" where a HUGE purple shadow covers the whole top half for like half the level.

But I can deal with it if it means playing Halo 2 <3

I always wonderd what the actual problem is with the emulation.

Don't you dare say that Halo 2 is less than Halo 3... just kidding, I get it.

Yeah, same same. It seems to happen to me when part of the textures are dark and part of a screens texture is suddenly bright. It happens every time on Outskirts and Metropolis and Quarantine zone. But I noticed, while filming or setting up an elaborate trick, that if I look down at the ground and not suddenly look up it will not shadow. Of course, that's no way to play Campaign so that's not a solution. Lol, play the whole game while looking down. The Covenant would think MC has flipped his gourd.

Also, I've been told by MP people that it also occasionally happened to them.
