Why don't Spartans die? They're regular people just like you and i. But we die don't we?! Spartans don't die, they're just MIA (Missing In Action)

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

Well, they do die.
The public just doesn't get told when they do.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Not sure if troll or just stupid.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

hundreds of spartans IIIs have died to the point i can say almost 1,000 and not have to worry about repercussions.

20-30 SIIs were killed also.

And this is exactly why people need to read the books instead of using the games as the only source for halo canon.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Only 600-650 died Grey, the rest of Gamma company will most likely be mentioned in Grasslands

Which is still close enough for me not to worry, and that is a pretty bold guess even though i somewhat think that also.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

They do die, they've just been pumped full of so much chemicals and what not things that would kill you or me wouldnt kill them

  • 07.01.2011 6:55 PM PDT

Cos they got lost in the woods.

  • 07.01.2011 7:22 PM PDT

The reason they aren't (usually) listed as KIA is so that everyone's morale gets a boost.

  • 07.01.2011 7:25 PM PDT

It's just a propaganda phrase.

It's suppose to plant the image of undying saviors in the minds of people to boost their morale.

This leads to people believing that John is the best Spartan ever just because they play as him.

"There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness. There is only WAR!"

The spartan project is the beacon for humanity in the final days of the human-covenant war. The spartan's were treated as gods among soldiers in the news and propaganda.

if the public was to ever find out that the spartans can actually die just like regular soldiers? then the whole morale portion of the project would have been for naught.

Just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know...except Bungie.

When ONI made the SPARTAN Project public, they also gave the public the mythos that "SPARTANS never die" to keep morale up. Should the general public learn that these "invincible" super-soldiers do die, morale would plummet like a rock. That's why they're always listed as MIA rather than KIA.
