Subject: What's Considered "Abusing the Report Button"?

Hi.

The rules really are kind of vague. Do you mind explaining this one to me?

I know I've heard someone say "Just report it if it offends you or you think it deserves to be reported" (paraphrasing).

So let's say someone makes a thread that breaks no rules whatsoever. For my point's sake, let's say this thread is "What's Your Favorite Reach Vehicle?".

If this gets reported to the point of being collapsed, wouldn't one agree that this was undeservingly collapsed? And if so, wouldn't that be considered abuse of the report button?

...or no?

Reporting posts that aren't actually against the rules is abusing the report button. If you do it a couple times or the post is iffy, the mods aren't going to punish you. If you're constantly reporting posts that are appropriate, then you can get in trouble.

Hi.

Do people actually get banned for this?

(I hope so)

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I only abuse the report button when necessary, and that's when I come home and it's on the phone talking to the quote button and not fixing muh dinner!

No really I only report when necessary, if something on the Community forum escalates before it gets attention of the mods, I'll report the offenders.

Hi.

I just think it's kind of silly that your post can get reported, then cleared by the mods as 'ok', and then you're unable to edit the post that was then deemed good.

...and then it can get reported and collapsed again, even though it was deemed good and yet impossible to be edited.

Yes, I can see how that could be troublesome. Getting reported then trying to fix it so it won't, and you can't.

Yes, I can see how that could be troublesome. Getting reported then trying to fix it so it won't, and you can't.
And also the problem is that the same exact thing (due to the inability to edit it) can be reported twice, even though it was already confirmed good the first time.

Don't moderators have to power to un-collapse posts? Or am I talkin' crazy?

They do.

Though, the post being uncollapsed doesn't render it edit-able again.
