Subject: Possible Enemies In Halo 4

The Covenant. Otherwise this is not a Halo game.

  • 07.03.2011 12:27 AM PDT

San'Shyuum Reformists
Remaining factions of Covenant / Covenant unaware that the war has ended
Prehistoric Humanity
Surviving Forerunners
Forerunner Tech (Sentinels, Monitors, etc.)
Surviving Precursors
Flood

Edit: We can't fight the last precursor... He's 100% dead since the end of H3 when we blew up Installation 04B right? He definitely died... he was on the new Halo and we blew it up. I've said previously that a Gravemind's consciousness might outlast their physical body - as long as there is Flood to command, the Gravemind might persist in a kind of out-of-body state. That way the Gravemind of 2552 might be the same Gravemind talked about in the Halo 3 terminals during the Forerunner-Flood war, and that way the last Precursor might survive past the end of Halo 3...

To play or not to play....

If it is an ancient threat I am betting the Gravemind found a way to survive.

Or?

What if Offensive Bias returns and tries fighting the MC or something. Though I doubt that noone ever explained what happened to Offensive Bias after the victory over Medicant Bias. It could be that OB is annoyed that MC has damaged the Ark.

Though I like the idea of a group of Forerunners returning and tring to reclaim what they think is rightfully theirs. Maybe a spliter group or something. Possibly they were MC destroyed it and released the center of the Ark.

If you look throughout Halo 3 the center of the Ark is within a shield. When the Ark is destroyed I am betting that shield protected the center long enough for it to survive intact.

Or another idea I have always had is what if a mechanical race rose up. Hmmm food for thought.

Also please remember there are many home worlds of the Covenant races still in existance any one of them could rise up. The Brutes would be my first bet as they are agressive by nature.

Baut alas we shall have to wait and see.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Actually he states that defeating him at 04B is "simply the addition to time" before he returns. The Gravemind/Prisoner survived the test firing at Charum Hakkor, I seriously doubt we've seen the last of him.

the Halo 4 website says it will be an "ancient threat."

The only ancient threats are:

The Flood
The Forerunners
The Precursors

Forerunners are not ancient nor are they a threat
How are the forerunners not ancient? You are kidding right?

the precursors and flood are older than the forerunners.

Forerunners, humans, and prophets are roughly the same age

an ancient threat that could also be forerunner technology would probably be sentinels like at the end of halo three and in the Ghosts of Onyx book

  • 07.03.2011 8:40 AM PDT

The flood were wiped out once. And guess what? They came back :D

The flood are dead, lets move on. I was hopinf for the rebels but as some pointed out they have said an "ancient" enemy.

If that is a forerunner planet I would guees that It will have those big guard sentinels from "the ghost of onyx" on it. They are pretty bad ass and hard to kill so it would be a nice trade off from Grunts and Jackals, needing to be more stealthy and taking it slow.

Rebels?Are you -blam!- kidding me?

The Flood aren't dead:
1.Gravemind can't die
2.There are some of them in statis
3.Maybe more outside the galaxy

Onyx sentinels aren't an ancient evil. They are just tasked with defending a shield worlds, that's it.

Rebels getting their hand on covenant tech or maybe forerunner tech would be cool, creating their own sort of spartans. But as mentioned that won't happen.

I probably didn't make my point very clear, these sentinales might be one of the enemys we will be fighting, building a whole game around them as a villain wouldn't be smart.

I say NO to the rebels, but rough Forerunner constructs are possible .

How did I escape? With difficulty. How did I plan this moment? With pleasure.

Those looking for a group to join, I suggest you join Gamma Company Spartans (check my groups page). We are a friendly and active community always looking for more members.

I dont see how the Forerunners would be an ancient enemy seeing as they were a peaceful race except when it came to the flood. Ancient yes, but their main goal was to rid the galaxy of the flood and start life over without them. i cant see them being an enemy but thats just my opinion.

  • 07.05.2011 9:07 AM PDT

You should add that new species called the Caveat OP.

  • 07.05.2011 9:13 AM PDT

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

Lots and lots of sentinels? Then we might finally get to use the forerunner tank!

When provoked, Forerunners are pretty viscous. They went to war with humanity and a good deal of them wanted to wipe us out entirely. The Librarian was less bloody minded and the Forerunners shattered us into a dozens subspecies instead.

I think it will be either

The Forruners and advance technologys

Another gravemind and more flood

or both because whatever is on the world is an acient evil sooo maybe the foreruners were not what they were thought to be or something completely new

  • 07.05.2011 1:09 PM PDT

I would speculate on the antagonist of Halo 4, but since I haven't read Halo: Cryptum, I feel as though I could easily be believing in a false idea. By ancient threat, I would immediately assume the Forerunners or the Flood. However, this antagonist would threaten the entire Universe - not just the Milky Way Galaxy. This makes me instantly consider the Flood as the most likely; but that's just speculation.

I have a feeling that the next Halo trilogy is going to take us to very distant places...

The covenant were destroyed, so it cannot be them. It is likely that it is the forerunners, or maybe the invincible Seargent Johnson.
