Subject: Your reaction to the swag bag fiasco

I wear the cheese, it does not wear me.

This account is now retired due to WLID changing. Webteam needs to fix that, seriously >.>

Not too fond of the way it was handled, but I got one so I can't complain.

Agreed. I actually got in after the initial wave Thursday. I feel bad for whoever it was that canceled their order and who's swag bag is on the way to my apartment.

Love all the member's spouting "MMMMMM YES, I got one mmmm, I feel sorrowful for all those plebeians who did not receive a bag, Mmmmmmm!!!"

Pompous community members, is what we have here. It's (yes I'm about to say this) not Bungie's fault, as much as it is the faulty fanbase.
I didn't get one, but I really couldn't care less about them. It was just a bunch of useless crap from a company that used to be cool.

What exactly are you blaming the community for?

What is this I don't even..

Who is acting that like that?! LOL.

Also, how was the anonymous seller thing (explained previously by "anOldCrustyLady") the Community's fault? wtf.

By putting blind faith in a company, first mistake, worst mistake.

Everytime.

It's great to support a company, but sitting at your computer pressing F5 ad infinitum for something you theoretically may or may not get is ridiculous.

I honestly do feel bad for those that didn't get a bag strictly because they either hesitated to buy from the unknown seller, or because they canceled their order. I was extremely disappointed to learn that Gorilla Screen Print was legit because I was there, with the item in my cart, but I couldn't make myself buy something that might be a scam. When Halcylon announced that it was really Bungie, I was saying in my head "-blam!- you Bungie, what a dirty dirty move you pulled there. I'm beyond disappointed at the way you handled this." I was pissed. But, being a psychopath, I decided I had to double check they were sold out, so 5 minutes later I tried on Amazon and it worked, I bought a Swag Bag.

Considering another member had to ask you who you thought was being "pompous," I think you're a minority there. Some people wanted bags, some people are die hard Bungie fans; and though I don't consider myself in that group, I figured I could drop some cash for a great charity and get some free stuff thrown my way in return.

Am I glad I got a bag? Heck yes. Do I genuinely feel sorry for those that didn't because of the scam threat? Yes.

No matter which way Bungie handled it, there was going to be people that were content, people that were irate, and people that were happy.

You just avoided my question...

Bungie put out the swag bags on an anonymous account and told no one.

Community members were upset about this.

Then, later, other community members are saying they had no reason to be upset, and that it was "the community's fault".

My question: How was Bungie putting the bags on an anonymous account without any warning whatsoever that it was them and not some scammer the community's fault?

Brains beats brawn get used to it

Fear the Red Comet

Variety is the spice of life.
Long live games.
Death to all fanboys.

The swag bag fiasco pretty much turned out much like the Reach beta code fiasco in that a good portion of it was caused mainly by the community getting into the mindset of obsessing over the subject at hand which is limited, and then subsequently feeling "robbed" when unable to acquire the subject of obsession despite the extreme odds against one's favor.

The F5ing scramble over everyone was just ridiculous along with the seething hate directed towards anyone that bought more than one.

Kinda like the whole code finding/entering scramble with the seething hate directed towards people who "cheated" in entering the code or used a code despite having the ODST beta ticket.

Society can sure be stupid at times.

My reaction was
"Bungie has released 2 waves today. I'll hang in there for another hour to see if there will be another."
*One hour later, Urk tweets that there will be another restock, time not announced.*
"Oh look, I was right. QUICK TO AMAZON!*
As soon as I got there, I ordered one and it went through.
I then proceeded to tweet:
@bungetweets OMG URK YOU SEXY MAN I LOVE YOU!
You left out the part where Bungie used an anonymous and unmentioned name to sell the second restock, and the part where people risked being scammed by a (potentially) random guy just posing to be Bungie.

Why is that?

Because my thoughts to that were merely:
"Oh. That sucks... Moving on."

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

Im still annoyed that the shipping price has stopped me purchasing one, its stupidily high. (i know, i know, its amazon, but still, i do feel a little annoyed that something was not done beforehand)

Hallo :D

I wish i could have gotten one. I stayed up for 20 hours waiting and trying to get one but sadly i failed. I don't blame Bungie at all for this incident, i blame the community for F5ing the page into oblivion. If that never happened their would probably be a LOT less people complaining about this. I am forever sad :(

I was in the same situation as you. However, once I had missed out on a swag bag, i saw that shipping prices were through the roof, and since seeing what people got in the swag bags, i have most halo items as it is, so it wouldn't have been worth the money spent in the chance of getting a rare item.
In the end i purchased a burn blue tee shirt. Couldn't care less about the swag bags anymore, i want to see what other items bungie will put up for bungie day.

Can you link me to the information which links this anonymous account to Bungie? Thanks.

What?

Bungie sold the second round of bags through an account named Gorilla Print because the f5ing broke the link to Bungie's account. All we needed was a simple tweet saying the gorilla account was theirs, but no, nothing. We were left guideless, and those who got the bags initially risked being scammed.

The account was then confirmed to be legitimate by someone like 30 minutes later, which was unfortunately mostly too late for those who wanted to play it safe and not get scammed.

That's not professional.

Again, where is the information that it was Bungie's account? You said it was confirmed by someone, so in that case I'm assuming that urk (or someone else from Bungie) posted that it was - can you link me to that please? I'm curious, that's all.

I didn't even see it myself. That's how badly this was handled.

All I know is that the mod Lord Revan (sp?) made it very clear that some Bungie contractor confirmed it. I'm afraid I have no link, sorry. He probably does, though, if you really want it.
