I didn't care about the bags. At all. I made a thread in a private group of mine entitled, "The main forums are _ _ _ now." The underscores are for a three letter word starting with G and ending with Y. It is not allowed to be said here and may be dubbed offensive. But yeah. That was my reaction. The main forums are -blam!- now.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

That could have been handled better.

Thanks for choosing to whine over being a productive member of the community and possible element towards advancing Reach.

I'm mostly disappointed in the time they were released living on the east coast means I have to adjust for time which isn't a bad thing but when the bags went up for sale I was at work.

The first wave I didn't even know about till I got home which was sold out by then and the second wave never came up on my iPod while I was taking a very rare mini-break. And I wasn't even aware of the name change in the seller so I wasn't sure where to look.

I'm not so much mad I didn't get one, I'm more upset in the way it was handled. I understand it's not entirely Bungie's fault but some better planning and communication could have gone a long way in avoiding some of the issues.

Everytime someone sacks my groceries, I think of Loaf.

My reaction:

"When the hell is it going to ship?!!?!?!?!?"

Gray socks are best socks. White is second, black third. Every other sock color is simply horrible.

I'm just waiting for my bag.

Again, where is the information that it was Bungie's account? You said it was confirmed by someone, so in that case I'm assuming that urk (or someone else from Bungie) posted that it was - can you link me to that please? I'm curious, that's all.

Bam!
And bam!

It could have been handled a lot better on Bungie/Amazon's side, but there was a lot of entitlement issues throughout the community. I feel bad for those who added the bag to their shopping cart but cancelled the order because everyone was shouting "IT'S A SCAM" on the forums.

Love all the member's spouting "MMMMMM YES, I got one mmmm, I feel sorrowful for all those plebeians who did not receive a bag, Mmmmmmm!!!"

Pompous community members, is what we have here. It's (yes I'm about to say this) not Bungie's fault, as much as it is the faulty fanbase.
What is this I don't even..

Who is acting that like that?! LOL.

Also, how was the anonymous seller thing (explained previously by "anOldCrustyLady") the Community's fault? wtf.

By putting blind faith in a company, first mistake, worst mistake.

Everytime.

It's great to support a company, but sitting at your computer pressing F5 ad infinitum for something you theoretically may or may not get is ridiculous.
You just avoided my question...

Bungie put out the swag bags on an anonymous account and told no one.

Community members were upset about this.

Then, later, other community members are saying they had no reason to be upset, and that it was "the community's fault".

My question: How was Bungie putting the bags on an anonymous account without any warning whatsoever that it was them and not some scammer the community's fault?

It isn't the communities fault that Bungie was pants on head retarded.

However, it IS the communities fault for expecting post 2007 Bungie to own up or execute anything correctly. Swag bag? What about a patch for Reach!?

Well now we know that it turns out Bungie was never allowed to make a patch in the first place and that it was 343i's job to do it, so there is that.

Pwned

I was and still am butt-hurt about it. It could have been handled better. I was up for 36+ hours and bungie uploaded a bunch while I was at dinner right after they said ETA unknown. If I steak them on bungie day though It will be nice because at least that way they fed me after the -blam!- me.

Didn't know that about the patch, good news I suppose.

------

I'd just like to remind everyone how utterly ridiculous it is for Bungie to outsource their store to Amazon. I'm sure a multi-Million dollar company could handle their own sales, unless of course, we factor in lazy.

Bioware and Visceral games BOTH ship their own merchandise through their OWN company. The only out factor is that the merchandise is made by "Treehouse Brand" INC. However, once it has been fabricated it's then shipped to Bioware/Visceral and then shipped to you.

Bungie should be doing this, not through Amazon on false accounts. Idiots.

Yeah, it's incredibly strange why Bungie switched over to using Amazon. As far as I can remember they used to ship themselves, but then the Bungie store closed down and they came back with the whole Amazon thing. Wonder why...

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

I think things would have went much smoother if they were just all auctioned off on Ebay.

Knowing how big this community is on the whole entitlement thing I'm willing to bet people will complain how anyone without a load of cash to burn is automatically left out.

Why are you attacking people who got a bag? I never even mentioned that I feel sorry for people who didn't get one. All I said was I think it could have been handled better, but i'm just glad I got one.

You seem to be blowing this way out of proportion for some reason.

I wish i could have gotten one. I stayed up for 20 hours waiting and trying to get one but sadly i failed. I don't blame Bungie at all for this incident, i blame the community for F5ing the page into oblivion. If that never happened their would probably be a LOT less people complaining about this. I am forever sad :(

I was in the same situation as you. However, once I had missed out on a swag bag, i saw that shipping prices were through the roof, and since seeing what people got in the swag bags, i have most halo items as it is, so it wouldn't have been worth the money spent in the chance of getting a rare item.
In the end i purchased a burn blue tee shirt. Couldn't care less about the swag bags anymore, i want to see what other items bungie will put up for bungie day.

A freakin men. I agree with you in every way my good sir. Im just waiting to see what else they have a bungie day, and if theres nothing good (highly doubtful) then ill get a burn blue t shirt. Its still pretty legit and its not a gamble at what you get. Not really happy at the way bungie handled it, but i could care less anymore. I mean maybe you get a shirt, some artwork, and maybe a game. Is it really that amazing? You could just get a poster of only 100 and be proud anyway.

I didn't bother with it and the threads that people made about the whole fiasco was pretty disgusting.
