This is an idea that I've had for awhile and it definitely has problems with it.

I think we should add a group rating system. You know, give a group 4 stars if it's excellent and 1 if it's crap. Of course, you would have to be in the group to rate it...but therein lies the problem. The group could be good when you join and then go down hill. Perhaps there could be a way to change your rating whenever you want. I don't feel like honesty or validity of the ratings would be any more of an issue than the karma system that has already been announced.

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

Then with all the inherent bugs involved, and the fact that the system now already works fine, how about we leave it the way it is and let Bungie focus on more important things shall we?

As happy as I am with the website now, I do believe that this is the Forum for questions and suggestons regarding B.net. Did I once say that we need this? Was I complaining? No. I was merely giving a suggestion. Please respect my opinion as I respect yours.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I see where you're coming from on this idea, but i think ultimately it's pointless for several reasons:

* People will more often than not deliberately vote maliciously low, or knowingly highly praise it.
* Founders may threaten to boot or lower security roles of members who give it a low rating.*
* Never judge a book by its cover. The rating can be flawed if you really want to know what a chapter is like (kind of like some polls that are made).
* People will no doubt judge a chapter on different things than others have. For example, someone may be judging it on its forum, where as someone else on its resources and another on all components thus subsequently giving us a very flawed result.

*Perhaps then we hide it from the admin so they don't know how people voted? Nu uh. I think having parts of a chapter hidden to its admin is bad and this is surely be complained about.

Those are valid points and I will try to give a solution for each.

* That happens in all the Forums, but hey, if they give us a karma system that works, I'm sure they can give us a rating system for the groups as well.

* Don't show what people voted. Just have it be like the polls. (This percent voted 4, this percent voted 3 etc.)

* Those who judge a group solely on the rating probably don't care too much. This would just be a way to help you find a group. After that, you can ask questions and do a little research if you are skeptical.

* Perhaps, but I think the majority of the people will be judging based on the forum and the activity level. I have never heard of someone advertising a group by saying, "Join this group! It has great resources!"

I do not like any rating ideas for this website. It is too easy to purposefully insure a group's rating is very high or low. I would rather see bungie finish the projects, such as a search, that are coming soon.

Search needed so very bad-
Ratings? If they got tons of spare time after ONP and can think of a bug free way sure, but to easy to rig to high or to low. I just join a group that interests me. Look around if I don't like what I see I leave. I don't know if I really care about a rating of the group who knows maybe my input and some other new people would swing things so it doesn't seem to needed compared to other features.

Just a quick fix.

Anyway, a group rating feature just isn't a very good idea. The last thing we would probably ever need would be ratings for groups... that and color tags, which we used to have until it was abused. I can definitely see the rating feature being abused a lot.

"Veni Vidi Castratavi Illegitimos"
"I came, I saw, I castrated the bastards."

The problem with having members in the group vote is that:
A. People can purposely come in and vote low to give it a bad rating
and
B. The creators can create alternate accounts, come in, and vote high to give the group a higher ratong than it deserves. This is why some people are doing the Chapter Spotlight, to show others what groups are good. Think of it as a more reliable, yet slower, group rating system.

Twitter | Nothing

I personally think that it wouldn't work. And can I just add that the Karma system they are adding in is just for the mods, normal members can't see your Karma/rating.

If you have to be a member to vote, then I don't understand why anyone would rate a group they're in as crap. Aren't people in groups because they like them? Wouldn't they just leave once the group was on the brink of crappiness?

If anything, there should definately be a required amount of time in the group before someone can vote. Otherwise, I can see a lot of sabotage going on with people joining a group just to give it a "crap" rating.

KOTOR | The WarriorsI'll chain you to the truth for the truth shall set you free
I'll turn the screws of vengeance and bury you with honesty
I'll make all your dreams come to life, then slay them as quickly as they came

What exactly would the Karma system do? Will it be available for the Bungie mods, or will it also be fuctional for Chapter mods?
