Okay, I've been giving this some thought, and I miss the days when all the weapons were more useful, imo bungie made weapons like the assault rifle and the pistol too underpowered ever since Halo CE. I mean, I know they're standard weapons, but they don't have to be nearly useless, and always be the ones thrown down for others. I think every weapon should provide a unique advantage, and hold that advantage.
Assault Rifle: More than 32 rounds/clip, I mean come on, 60 to 32? This is Combat Evolved, not DEvolved. I can see that the SMG had something to do with this, but they didn't have to cut the ammo/mag in half. Call it the MA5, instead of 'B', 'C', or '37', w/e its all the same gun, they just keep butchering it (except in Reach, they improved on it imo), they're all in the MA5 series, and in Contact Harvest and other novels, were simply referred to as 'MA5'. Possibly add a tactical zoom to it (low- 2x at most), keep the damage per hit the same as Reach, but give it a higher rate of fire.
Battle Rifle: Same as Halo 3, but with a higher rate of fire to give it better range and accuracy for a complete headshot (4 for kill), 2.5x zoom, more damage/hit against unshielded body on MP.
Pistol: 10 rounds/clip, has the style of the Halo: CE pistol, but 4 headshots required for kill, 2x zoom, less range and accuracy than BR.
Shotgun: Halo: CE range and power, but with 8 shells/mag, instead of 6 or 12. Style of old Shotgun from Halo: CE.
Sniper Rifle: Halo: Reach version, but with less bloom per shot, SR has stayed pretty consistent throughout.
Rocket Launcher: Halo: CE, faster rocket, more powerful, no lock-on, can destroy tank (wraith) in 2 shots.
Spartan Laser: Halo: Reach, 4 shots/battery, can destroy tanks in 1 shot.
Grenade Launcher: No bouncing, more of an arc when fired, more range.
Flamethrower: NA4 flamethrower from Halo: Wars, not the one in Halo 3 you have to lug around, backpack ammo, does half the damage, but can move normally, however, the ability to sprint is lost.
M99 Stanchion Gauss gun: Rail gun, like the MAC gun, but in a smaller package, extremely powerful, one shot kill anywhere, most likely wouldn't be in MP because of being so overpowered, can see and fire through walls, charges up similar to MAC gun at the end of Halo: Reach. This gun was used by Sgt. Johnson in Contact Harvest when he shot a rebel through a building, and the rebel flew to pieces. Fun fact: Muzzle velocity: 15,000 meters/second.
Target locater: Same as Reach.
Turrets: .30 caliber minigun, 3000 RPM, permanent mount, no ammo counter, kills Spartan just within 1 second, .30 caliber machinegun from Reach, and .50 cal turret on Warthog, but mounted elsewhere as well like Halo 3, and Missile Launcher: Fires a guidable missile that can be steered in first-person view, can destroy a tank in one shot, large area of effect.
Frag grenades: Longer fuse like in Halo: CE, like an actual grenade, instead of being fireballs for spammers, 1 frag can kill though, unlike in Halo 3 and Reach (not sure about 2).
C12: Explosive from the novels, like C4, but on steroids, can be deployed and remote detonated.
Because the weapons are overall stronger, the player would be faster than in Reach, more like previous Halo games. And the shields would of course charge back faster, because of the upgraded Mark VI armor, and visible health as well, but it would be rechargable health, as there is biofoam in the Mark VI suit which can heal wounds in real time, similar to Elites in Reach. No health packs.
Armor abilities are removed, but sprint is available by default, and you can evade if you jump while sprinting, sprinting is available for slightly longer. You can pick up a jetpack, which will remove the sprint ability and that same button will be used for it, jetpack will also last slightly longer. Powerups can be picked up like in the old Halos: Overshield and active camouflage.
Anyway, I think all of this would be cool, I'm no programmer, and don't know how it would exactly feel, but what do you guys think? and feel free to add any ideas of your own.
