The rules seem easy enough to follow, and I've always felt you have to be looking to get banned if you do. That, or you post something that is iffy on an off day for a mod, and you get the ban.I daresay that if you look into it a fair number of complaints* are based on that factor of iffy posts on an off day for mods, and how that inconsistency is a bad thing.
Then throw into that differing opinions on how the rules are/should be interpreted and the general trend that a fair bit of the better discussion (least in the flood) could quite easily be taken as in some way being a political/religious discussion and that your chances of being able to have a good fun discussion are hugely reliant on which moderator(s) happen to see the topic and how petty they're feeling at the time. I've seen firearms topics locked after a couple of pages for being political, and then we've also had that one 1500+ post topic on the same subject which had multiple ninjas posting in it. Same basic topic (if anything the 1500 post one had a more 'political' OP than ones I've seen locked), but one is locked whilst the other gets to 64 pages.
It's not so much an issue with the rules being clear as it is with the interpretation of the rules being rather less clear, and also prone to being rather inconsistent among different ninjas.
