Well before you consider buying Marathon 2: Durandal for XBLA, you can play the entire Trilogy at no cost by downloading it freely from Sourceforge.

If you are looking to play Myth The Fallen Lords and Myth II: Soulblighter, all you really need is a copy of Myth II: Soulblighter. The reason for this is that you can play all of the Myth TFL campaign as a free plugin for Myth II.

My recommendations are play Marathon on Aleph One before deciding to spend the money for the XBLA version and get yourself an inexpensive copy of Myth II from amazon or ebay and download the Fallen Levels plugin. That gets you the most oldschool Bungie bang for your buck.

Here are some simple instructions on how to get the Marathon Trilogy on Aleph One.

Here is a step by step list of instructions for installing Marathon Infinity and Aleph One.

1. Go to marathon.sourceforge.net.

2. Click on the picture for Marathon Infinity. The file download window will pop up. Save the MarathonInfinity.zip file somewhere on your computer where you can find it. The Desktop or the My Documents folder are good places.

3. Click on the picture for the operating system of your computer, be it Mac, Windows, or Linux. The file download window will pop up. Save the AlephOne-20100424.zip file in the same folder you saved the MarathonInfinity.zip file in step 2.

4. Open the MarathonInfinity.zip file and copy the Marathon Infinity folder to a convenient location on your computer (the Desktop or My Documents will work).

5. Open the AlephOne-20100424.zip file and copy the AlephOne-20100424 folder to the same folder you copied the Marathon Infinity folder to in step 4.

6. Open the newly created AlephOne-20100424 folder. Copy all of the folders and files in the AlephOne-20100424 folder into the Marathon Infinity folder. If you are asked to replace files, click "Yes to all".

7. Double click the AlephOne.exe file in the Marathon Infinity folder. This should launch Marathon infinity.

8. Click the Preferences button in Marathon Infinity and adjust the preferences to suit your needs.

This process is tailored to Windows installation and will work for all 3 Marathon games. It is best to have a separate folder and a separate version of Aleph One for each game.

Both Marathon and Myth are really great games, so I would strongly consider playing them. I think Marathon on the computer is much more fun than Marathon on XBLA. Marathon on XBLA isn't bad if you turn off HD graphics and crosshairs though. Lastly, join For Carnage Apply Within, so that once you get these games you have people you can play them with! FCAW can also help you get them installed and running on your computer.

Does it say "Please be sure the files 'Map', 'Shapes', 'Images', and 'Sounds' are correctly installed and try again. (error-1)" ?
