I know a lot of you have heard many of these things before, but I'm just trying to help out the peole. Your comments and suggestions about weapons will be highly appreciated. Please try not to be one sided about any one weapon and try to show that all these weapons are useful.

Ok well all of you play multiplayer Halo, let it be a LAN or an online Halo game, all of us have experienced playing Halo multiplayer. Halo multiplayer is one of, if not the most, fun part of playing Halo. Getting together with your friends and just having all-out killing sprees and just having a good time killing each other. This post is to kind of help some of you to possibly become better multiplayer players.

First of all you'll want to know what the terrain is like. For example, in Blood Gulch there are many hills, cliffs, and a few caves. There are also places where shadow is cast by the mountains bordering the arena. It is important to know the terrain because you can vitrually know where everything is from weapons to power-ups. You can also figure out where the sniping positions normally are, and where the different weapons can be used at their maximum capability and create the most problems for the other players.

Second of all you'll want to know which weapons are good for usage in multiplayer maps. Personally I believe all the qeapons have their pro.s and con.s, however some weapons just aren't very good on levels unless you are under special circumstances.

Assault Rifle- It has been thought that this weapon is the WORST weapon in Halo. However, even some of the more experienced players know when to use this weapon. The assault rifle is good for distracting players first of all. Since the AR packs enough of a punch to annoy anyone on the field, if you are trying to destract 1 or 2 enemies while one of your teammates escapes, or tries to grab the flag, the AR is the Weapon of Choice. It is also quite a handy weapon in close-quarters, This is only because the AR is only useful in point-blank ranges.

Pistol- If this isn't the most well-rounded weapon in the game, than there aren't any. The pistol is the most useful in every situation. It has a scope for medium ranged zoom, and can be a deadly weapon scoped when in the right hands. It can also however, be a very deadly weapon even in close-quarters combat. If you only take head shots at an enemy, you can take down anyone with a minimum of 3 shots. If you have room in your arsenal the pistol is highly recommended.

Rocket Launcher- This is one of the messiest weapons in this game. It is the only weapon in Halo besides grenades that have splash damage. If you shot one rocket close enought to an enemy, you can kiss his ass good-bye. Remember though not to shot too close to yourself or you may end up just as ugly as the guy you were trying to blow up. Jumping and ducking while going up against a rocketeer is very helpful also. Jumpng and ducking is also a useful technique since it will throw off the aim of your enemy long enough for you to give him a significant beating, and even kill him.

Sniper Rifle- If you want to keep a safe distance yet still dish out more damage than other players, this is the weapon to go with. The sinper rifle is the BEST long-range weapon in Halo. It has 2x and 10x scope capability and is very useful even when empty. Remember, if you need tips to become a better sniper visit the sticky of Hikaru 119's guide to sniping.

Shotgun- Close-quarters weapon of choice. If your going to go in to an enemy base, you'll want to take the shotgun, or at least grab it when your inside. This is because you can peg someone once and they'll be long enough for you to get away. The shotgun is also useful for ambushes. Spartans all run at the same speed in Halo unless the rules are changed. So as long as you start chasing early enough, your enemy is down in at most 2 shots.

Needler- The needler is only useful when you are in a small map where maneuvering left and right is highly difficult. This is because the needler's needles cannot veer off sharp enough to chase after a target that is sidestepping to the left or right. Usually you can ambush someone while they climb a ladder for the best results because they cant maeuver left and right at all on ladders.

Plasma pistol- The pp is quite useful in ridding the tedious task of lowering the enemies shield. This baby can take down any shield with a completely charged shot. It can also be shot faster and more accurate in the hands of an experienced Halo player.

Plasma Rifle- The pr is an awesome weapon also. This weapon when shot repeatedly acts like the ghosts plasma shots, and stuns the enemy so that they are unable to turn to shot back. You may want to utilize this fact and attack someone with this weapon from behind in order to keep them from turning around.

Grenades- These babies both Frag. and plasma are very deadly and when used correctly can dish out a substantial amount of damage quickly. The Frag. grenade is very useful to bounce around corners and shell an unsuspecting enemy approaching your position. The plasma grenade as you all know is very useful to stick on the body of the enemy and blow them up with one hit. However, some people forget to run away and allow thei opponent to get within range to Kamikaze the person who stuck the grenade on him.

Power-ups- These are quite useful and can change the odds to your favor QUICK. If you didn't know already, when you grab the oveshield, it charges your shields if they are down, and then the overshield charges up. While it charges up, you virtually invulnerable to any attack. Someone can blow a rocket directly in your face, and you may still live through it with full shields. The Camo is helpful for people who love to sneak up and into the enemy base and reek havoc among the enemy players in their own safe-haven.

Couple comments, the AR is the ultimate finishing weapon. If you have shot down your enemy enough to lower their shield and now you're forced to reload, always switch to your backup.. which in a lot of cases is the AR.. then finish them off. It is a very nice close range weapon despite the criticism, it is NOT the worst weapon in Halo, that would be the needler.

Shotgun - The shotty is the big boy in close range, a nice tactic is if someone is running at you or if you're close enough to score a decent shot with the shotty, melee directly after.. this usually will result in a quick kill. The shot takes down shield, the melee finishes them off.. it's also the ultimate ownage.. it not only scores the kill but delivers a nice wack to the face for good measure.

Sniping - Hikaru's guide is nice, but just some quick tips. Unless you are on a huge map and cross map, always use 2x and go for head shots. It is much easier to aim with 2x than 10x, there is really no question about that. Also lead with the sniper, and never chase with it. Remember it's the sniper, not the pistol.. hold your reticle steady and fire when the enemy's head comes in.. never chase someone around with a sniper, it just results in misfired and wasted shots. Strafe when sniping and never stay in the same place for more than 1 or 2 kills. Remember be patient and let your enemy come into the scope, don't chase after them.

Plasma Rifle - The ultimate freeze and wack weapon.. is deadly in close range if you can lock your enemy up with the plasma shots, strafe to them and finish them off with a wack to the face. Also is the best weapon, besides the PP which is a one shot burst with practice, against an OV-ed enemy. The plasma rifle takes out Overshield twice as fast as any other weapon besides the PP and RL.

Rocket Launcher - Jump when firing the rocket launcher and aim for the feet, or at least low. If your enemy is running toward you, shoot behind them a few feet so that they receive the butt of the damage, this can actually let you survive the shot a lot of the time.

Pistol - Hands down, if you own with the pistol.. it'll give you the chance to become better with other weapons. The pistol master is the master of the TSK (Three Shot Kill). Now some quick hints on pistol useage. Always use both analogs, strafe constantly but don't just aim with your strafe. Always aim for the head, even tho 2 body shots and 1 head shot kills, it's better to always score headshots. It keeps your shot honest. Practice practice practice.. and unles you're on a large map and need the scope, the scope is your worst enemy. It is much easier to score a medium range kill unscoped than scoped, just try it, I promise you you'll understand.

Nades - Nades have many uses. Double meleeing and sticking a plasma nade to your enemy is classic. This is done by hitting B,L,B with the right timing, near your enemy. Knowing the strength of each nade type is key. In general frags deal out more damage, but against an OV-ed opponent or if Accuracy is key, using a plasma is the way to go. Nades can also be used to 'blow' items to you, such as powerups or weapons, from far away on the map. Nading the RL to you at Hang 'Em and the invis down at Damnation, into the rocket pit, can be the difference in winning or losing.

Powerups - All though I don't like the idea of powerups, it is essential that you get them so the other team doesn't. Timing helps you do this, each powerup spawns at a certain time during gameplay, every minute or so on most maps. Use a timer, such as watch velcroed to your controller, and be in position to grab the powerups and rocket in most cases when they spawn. This will improve you greatly, tho I advise if you don't play powerup whoring opponents don't worry with it. It'll make you better but be an unfair advantage to your friends.

Hope this helps :) Good post btw..
