Subject: Suggestions for a post NMST world.

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

We can still work together to make interesting threads and the like. Check here for the update. NMST is officialy disbanded, this is just some suggestions.

P.S. Who here can give me an example of when one of us sounded like we were mod wannabees? I could only find one.

Indeed. I have no wish to disband those forums after spending so long on them anyway.

No Psyched- I agree. You worked hard on that, there is no way we are disbanding the forum.

I liked the idea of posting NMST before threads as it showed you could rely on something good there hopefully! But unless you could enforce anything... then it would just get shouted around like nothing!

Unless Bungie gives any official titles out for eg. sub-mods, then i don't think it's a good idea for you to start a cleak like this :)

Just do what i do and give a few subtle whispers around to members of New Mombassa... i normally get a polite response back and never see anything bad from them again :) I can't stress the importance though of how we're only users and very privelaged ones at that to be able to access these forums....

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Sub-mods? What would you mean by that? Either you have the power to moderate or you don't. What "powers" would you think would be needed by a sub-mods and if they have powers already, why not just make them a mod?

My intention for NMST was never to make it some sort of 'Sub-Mod' group. People took it that way.

EDIT: And by people, I mean some of its members. It wasnt meant to be a little elitist group either. It was there to help cool down flame wars, try to help organise discussion and to help out new members. Also, I would have hoped that we could push the idea of discussion over flame, and point-counterpoint debates.

Also, I never targeted spam as one of our aims. That is the mods job, not ours.

Original aims of NMST
-Posting interesting, worthwhile conversation about Halo 2.
-Cooling down potential flame wars
-Advising ignorance against spamming
-Helping out the new guys, and getting them used to the idea of interesting debate rather than 'Your -blam!-' 'Your a dumbass' type flaming.
-In cases such as ILB, helping to keep things tip top and under control.

I never said we should tell people what to do, etc. You get the idea. People took things out of context. I wanted to help, not moderate. I wanted to make NM a friendly and nice place to be, not neccesarily a place where only people who are very articulate could go. A lot of members went WAAAY over the top. They assumed that they could start acting all moddy because they were a member of the NMST. Organisation of aims comes at a price gentlemen.

Just keep it simple. Bungie.net is a community, so of course we have to work together. We just have to remember that while a good number of posts in NM are a waste to some, they were created by other members of our community and should be respected. Just take the thread and add your own personality to it.

Stalin, I didn't think you wanted to moderate. NMST was also disbanded just for the sake of it being a little gang, or organization and some others felt excluded/created rival groups etc. Sub mods would be a bad idea IMO.

Yeah and i completely agree with you... in an ideal world Stalin... it would work, however.... it's not so we'll just have to cope :)

bah

I still like the idea of secret mods. Only the secret mod would know who they were. When they modded posts and topics, there would be no "modded by" thingy. This way, trolls and flamers never know when they're being watched.

So if all the current mods went missing...
