If I shoot the Marines it directs the attention more their way, rather than the enemy obeying the Armory skull and staring in your direction. The Marines can't see the enemy so they just stand there, but if I hurt them they will move and all fire from the enemy will be directed at them for the 2 1/2 seconds Envy works. It doesn't always work but sometimes I can slide through unscathed.

My memory is coming back, it's been three years since I played SLASO. When standing/hiding by the HZ sign the Elite is out of your vision so he won't kill you as you toss a sticky onto the turret Grunt. Then it's much easier get by that Mythical Elite.
Oh boy, I can't wait to test these out. I should have a video ready in, say, 7-9 days, maybe 12 if my Halo 3 work takes longer than I expect?

I just thought it was so cool how Halo 2 told two stories and at the end they both intersect and the game left you with this infamous yet iconic cliffhanger that had most people so excited for the next game. Halo 3's campaign was epic and awesome but I was really disappointed that neither the Chief nor the Arbiter really got to know each other. That's one thing all the games suffer from, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! I also think it would have been cool if Miranda betrayed the Chief but that would have been kinda redundant if the Arbiter got betrayed too. And maybe the Arbiter story wasn't executed how Bungie originally ment to but regardless, it still kicked A$$! Sacred Icon, Quarantine Zone were kinda hard to navigate and to dark at times but dude, those levels use to scare the -blam!- out of me when I was little. The two Delta Halo Control Room levels and the two High Charity levels looked amazing. The sky boxes and and the art design were beautiful. Bungie did a really good job on those environments and I was a bit disappointed they never explored those places in HD on the 360. Overall though, I strongly disagree with the people that think Halo Combat Evolved had a better campaign. It's a classic that all first person shooter fans need to experience. But Halo 2 had a more complex story, gave fans a way better understanding of the Covenant and the gameplay was so refined and much more balanced in my opinion. You now had duel-wielding, vehicle boarding, new enemies, new weapons (ENERGY SWORD), new vehicles and all the returning vehicles had way better controls! There's no question in my mind that Halo 2's campaign was superior juxtaposed to the original.

Yeah I agree. Halo 3 may have refined some of Halo 2's stuff and introduced new things, but Halo 2 started a whole new revolution. That's how Halo games should flow. My only wish now is for a Halo 3.5 or a Halo 3 remake that will revolutionize Halo once more (and not go on the path to apostasy as Halo: Reach).

<------Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 emblem.

Uprising is a fantastic level. I've even embarked on a journey to complete all the Halo game campaigns on solo Legendary before the 1 year Reach anniversary this year. I've played Reach completely through on Legendary and I'm almost done with Halo 1 Legendary (just the Maw remains). Then it's Halo 2, then ODST, then Halo 3 to go. Then I'm going to have to beat Halo 1 again in November! That's a lot of Halo and Legendary!

Well, nobody's mentioning Uprising. It was short but there was an easy way to drive a Spectre all over the map and on Uprising I pulled off the best single player swordfly (for me personally) and it was a doozy.

It's a tut so hang in there for the final flight, I complete what magicians call 'The Prestige'.

Man, I was so surprised by how huuuuge the maps on QZ were once I started messing around. Lots of weirdness. (Grump...) On a side note, (Grump & Sliding), how do you guys even do SLASO ? I guess as a guy who only does Legendary, there's some time saved on a different difficulty, but, still, getting all those skulls...what a frickin hump !

Yeah, you have to be serious about SLASO. I have saves for every skull so it took about 20 minutes to activate them. Then I left the original box on for 6 months so I could just jump right in. It didn't matter anyway, I got slaughtered on most levels.

I consider myself to be a huge old sci-fi nerd; SW from age 4, Star Trek on the down low...but yous guys who SLASO, you're the true nerds. You're the Solo to my Chewbacca, the Picard to my Rieker, the Johnson to my Keyes. Am not being jerky. I truly tip my hat to to you guys.

I don't know how he does it but I have Halo 2 Vista and a dev trainer that allows me to enable any skull I want for convenience.

But if it was for Xbox, I would probably start with all skulls except Armory and Blind. Then I would just start off by skipping and see what that will do.

For example, on Metropolis, you have to fight until you get to the point where the banshees spawn (you can't get past/clear the tunnel with a Warthog). I found that the scorpion only pushed the banshees back and I got killed. So change of plans: hijack the Banshee. So I found a hiding place where the Banshees came noticeably close and skyjacked one.

What about air conditioning?!!!!!

Which ones were some of the most difficult (besides Cairo Station)?

We're all nerds. We're no better than anyone else. But these accomplishments can go to our head.

What makes a good Halo player is one that has stability.

By the way, I don't SLASO. I do solo legendary most skulls on (SLMSO) with deaths and reverts allowed. Basically, I just experiment, come up with plans, share my discoveries.

But if there's one thing I like about SLASO is that the Blind skull makes it so that I can't see what Black Eye does to the hud. I'm a perfectionist so just seeing one little drain of my shield makes me unstable.

@ Ghost - As far as what levels are the toughest, I really can't say. It's easier to name the less impossible levels. Also, playing by fighting is 1,000 times harder than running scared like I do. I've never beaten any level legit.

I finished OS and QZ by skipping so....meh

DH was easy because I could skip the whole thing (meh) but I never could defeat the enemy's at the last fight. I threw my controller more than once.

All the rest were impossible for me mainly because of BE, especially levels without a lot of vehicles to beat down for health. Ammo was also a constant misery so even if I progressed to a CP, I had nothing to fight with.

Oracle was a slaughter right away.

Arbiter was hard to even get started, there's just no help from allies with Assassins on.

Regret, SI, Gravemind and HC....brutal, savage

Uprising and GJ were brutal in the passageways.

Most of those hardest levels I never made it very far out of the gate.

Can you be more specific about the last fight (I'm unfamiliar with that level)? I want to come up with a strategy for that part. And how did you skip the whole thing?

I think I'll choose Uprising (since I've played that multiple times when I modded it to have replayable Elites vs. Brutes game saves). I can't say that I'll get far. But I can find a strategy for each part.

what i felt halo 3's campaign lacked was boss battles/main characters. i like how the story goes deeper into the covenants world, religion and politics in halo 2's campaign instead of the usual shoot any non human you see in combat evolved, bungie did a good job with the heretic leader, tartarus, prophets, gravemind...

the scene where arby and chief confront truth while temporarily allied with the flood was terrible IMO - should have at least made it a boss fight: chief, miranda, arby and flood vs truth and brutes.

would also liked to have fought gravemind. only new thing 3 had was allying with the flood and 343 guilty spark boss fight (felt redundant, she becomes your enemy again like in combat evolved)

  • 07.07.2011 4:21 PM PDT

dude for real, maybe not all the boss fights in H2 were that great but at least it had boss fights, Gulty Spark bearly counts cause he doesn't even aim for you, he just fires in a line. Scarab battles in H3 were cool boss fights though.

scarabs arnt boss fights. your destroying a vehicle. could of made it simalar to a boss fight if there was ONE scarab which was a superior model to other scarabs (like the AA wraith counte rpart to normal wraiths)

I'd definitely prefer attempting it in Halo 2.

Halo 3 is too random. The only levels that I had little difficulty with (on SLASO of course) are:

The Covenant
Floodgate

I can only get 1/3 of The Storm, because I can't board the Scarab without having it backing up on me. If I could get past the Scarab, then the rest of the level would be easy as hell: all you have to do is have a gravity lift or bubble shield and then go out of the map and you just avoided the Chieftains, Hunters, etc.

I can only get 2/3 of the last level Halo, because of the driving part. It requires extensive memory, something which I don't have the time for (I prefer The Covenant).

And although I can easily complete the Scarab battle area on The Ark and the last rally point part, the initial parts of the mission are too difficult for me.

I should be getting my video capture card around July 12 so I have time to do Halo 2 SLASO testing.

So,

Can you be more specific about the last fight on Delta Halo (I'm unfamiliar with that level)? I want to come up with a strategy for that part. And how did you skip the whole thing?

>>ALERT<<

Class 1337 "noob sauce" inbound; Troll units cleared to engage.

I'd say that the best is "Uprising" because, well... it felt like an actual uprising. Aptly named, and taking place during the start of the Great Schism... I honestly think it was the best level.

Needless to say, though, all of the Halo 2 Campaign missions have their own distinct traits that make them overall... awesome.

I write poetry, I write short-stories, I listen to hip-hop (80s&90s), Reggae, Classic Rock n Roll, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Blues, and the 60s, 70s.

The liked most of the missions, but my favorites are Outskirts and Regret, but on legendary I began to hate them.

Outskirts would probably be my fav

i like the part in the great journey after killing the drones you go to the room with all the weapon crates, behind that section are prison cells, 2 councilor elites and 2 hunters held captive by a squad of brutes. The music that plays in that scene is awesome as well!
