Does anyone know anything about what the system requirements for Halo2PC might be? I'm planning on upgrading my computer and I'd like it to be able to run the game. I'm used to crappy graphics, so I'd be fine with the bare minimum, but I have no clue what the bare minimum is gonna be.

I'm hoping something like 1.2 to 1.4GHz, 256MB RAM, and 64-128MB video RAM.

Your PC must suck then.

In all actuality, I doubt those would ever be the bare minimum, and as stated somewhere else, there has been no information on the Halo 2 PC reqiurements.

This is all a moot point anyway, as your computer couldn't run Windows Vista.

Wait a sec. I think any computer faster than about 1GHz could run Vista. I've seen XP on a 200MHz system. I don't think that the operating system is a problem.

Plus, those aren't my computer specs, just my hopes for system requirements for Halo2. Right now I'm planning on getting an AMD Athlon XP 3100+, 512MB RAM, and something in between a Geforce FX 5200 and a Geforce 6600 GT. Do you think that setup could handle Halo2 at a bare minimum?

(I'm on a college budget, so I have to deal with the bare minimum)

Probably pretty similar specs as to those required to run Counter Strike: Source, so that'2 256mb of ram, a 1.2ghz CPU and a DX7 graphics card. Though that barely runs it, double every one of those specs to get a decent pc for running games, double them again (expect cpu speed) and you've got an uber pc.

A half-gig just to run an OS? Yikes! That's insane. If you check out the Microsoft website, though, Vista has special features that eat up RAM that can be turned off. I really doubt that you couldn't run Vista with only 256MB.

Here is what I feel the requirements be:

Required:
Windows(R): Vista - 512 MB RAM
Processor: Pentium 4 2.3 GHZ or equivalent
Hard Drive: 2.0 GB (3.5 for developer software)
Video Card: 128 MB/T&L capable
Online/Multiplayer: 56.6 kbps modem or LAN; broadband to run a server
Other: Directx 9.0c, 8x DVD, Sound Card, & speakers/headphones

Recommended:
Windows(R): Vista -1 GB RAM
Processor: Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ or equivalent
Hard Drive: 2.0 GB (3.5 for developer software)
Video Card: 256 MB/T&L capable
Online/Multiplayer: LAN or Broadband; DSL (high) or more to run a server
Other: Directx 10.0, 8x DVD, Sound Card, & speakers/headphones

*Note, I changed the system requirements from directly off the retail box and used those.*

Good job, except for one thing.

Eliminate the "56.6 kbps modem" from the list, and I think you're good.

well, that is under required, not recommended. thus it is not recommended to use dial-up.

*NOTE* I am being optomistic in these sustem requirements, it could be higher or lower.

For those wil amd's, dont worry about the speed. A 2ghz amd can out perform the 3ghz pentiums.

Very very easily i might add, a 3000+ amd will run at 1.8ghz, but will quite easily outperform a 3.2ghz P4, especially in gaming, AMDs rock.

i don't know about the pentium4 thing I have ran windows XP on a pentium2 but the prosser was 2ghz , I would at least a NO MATTER what pentium 3

I have a pentium 3 computer that would kick amd's @ss all over the place , but it totally custom made now if you put a AMD with the mods i got on my one of my computer then it would..well It would kick mine !! lol

So far I haven't Played or Run a Game or Program my P3 computer can't handed , even Doom 3 (don't ask how I got it to run ON a P3 hehe, to hard to expline ,and well to illegal, i think...)

so thats y i think the P4 or what ever is a little more for the Minium , but I could be wrong...

But still AMD are fricken great a gameing!!!!

PIIs don't go up to 2Ghz, i believe the highest speed they reached was around the 300Mhz mark, P3s only went up to 800Mhz, and P4s range from there to 3.8Ghz.

And trust me on this, high-end AMDs kick seven kinds of -blam!- out of every single high-end intel.

for somereason

+ i can run halo on my P2! with no problems , only part is it only shows up black, white, grey and red, and no fog, but thats becus I don't have a good anuff ghx card i think. (and yes I go halo to run on my P2 ..well i didn't , my cusion did)

just to inform you, p2 went up to *if i remember* only 450 mhz, p3 went up to 1.2 ghz

AMD smacks the crap out of intel. I have a 2.4 ghz socket A sempron and according to sisoftware sandra it outperforms 3.2 ghz p4s. and thats just in benchmarking.

AMD systems are incredibly efficient with ram too. Since their memory controller is on-die, AMD systems dont need ddr2 ram. With AMD cpus DDR works as well or better than DDR2 in a p4 system.

The AMD 3000+ (939) is hovering above $100 US last time I checked.

probably not too much
the xbox has
733 mhz pent III
64 or 128 mb RAM (i can't remember)
32 mb graphics card
so the req. will probably be just above what vista's will be.
