First off, the Pelican is almost identical to the one used in Aliens.

On the level 343 Guilty spark, when you get to see the cut scene in the middle of the game it is a lot like the one taking place during the landing on LV-426 in Aliens. i.e. cocky marines trash talking right before they land.

The first part of 343 just shows that there have been some fighting but is now derelict, some places are barricaded. You also get this eerie feeling that the winner of the fight is still lingering somewhere, awaiting to attack.

during the mid cut scene you hear the famous;
"I've got a bad feeling about this"
"Boy you always have a bad feeling about something"

And then BOOOM! Right into the fighting! Panic and shouts like "They're everywhere" "They're pouring from the walls" etc.
The panicking marines and everything is just like the first meeting with the aliens in Aliens.

And then we have the flood. A parasitic race, evolved as a bioengineered weapon. They are parasitic and attaches themselves to their host and are considered so dangerous that they must all be killed or else it will just spread. You get the same feeling about the flood as with the aliens, if they spread they will wipe out all living life in the galaxy.
They are both hive creatures, aliens had a queen, the flood have the gravemind.

For those of you who have seen "Aliens" by James Cameron, compare the first fight sequence in the movie with the helmet cam sequence of the first encounter with the flood.

To me, there are far too many similarities to be a coincidence.

So to me, it seems like the flood is just a rip-off of Aliens. What do you think? Am I right or am I wrong?

Halo:CE is still, and will forever be, the best game since Goldeneye on N64

They were inspired by Aliens. Bungie stated that a while back.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

There's tonnes of sci-fi universes that follow the Human species, advanced species, monster species, super-advanced elder species formula. Look at them and test it out.

Due to some e-mail dumbness, my GT is not the one listed on my profile. My GT is the same as my board name.

Bungie have never been secretive about being inspired in a lot of ways by Alien.

You need a weapon?....You can find your own......

Alien and Aliens practically invented the concept of the space marine. If you look at some aspects of Halo such as: the assault rifle bullet counter and digital compass, the marine in Halo 1 saying "game over man, game over!", as well as how the elites look like the aliens with their long slender heads and crooked legs.

People really don't give those movies enough credit....they truly provided a ton of inspiration for games like Halo what we all love and adore. :)

That's why aliens is the best of the series. It's almost like a halo movie.

A billboard on PoA has a flyer for a missing cat named 'Jonesy'. The AR has a digital mag read out. Johnson/Apone are nearly carbon copies.
The elites' head seems very similar to the Alien features.
I could go on and on. Bungie has always been forthcoming with their love of 'Aliens'.

Really? You think the flood was copied? Look at the elites! They practically are aliens. :P

They've got Predator mouths, though.

This.

Plus, there's some noticeable differences:

-facehuggers implant, infection forms burrow in
-to aliens, the host is disposable, only being a medium. to Flood, the host is useful and it's memories are absorbed.
-aliens keep the host alive. flood kill the host.
-alien growth takes some time, flood infection is immediate

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Among other things. Bungie was always pretty open about the subject.
