In case you haven't been to the Gearbox forums, I have prepared a little FAQ about Halo CE that should answer most, if not all, of your questions. So enjoy:
Q: What is Halo CE and what does it do?
A: It stands for Halo Custom Edition, and with it you can view additional information about the server you are playing in (it is multiplayer only), as well as downloading and playing new maps to play. If you also download the HEK (Halo Editing Kit), you can use that together with CE to create and beta test your own maps.
Q: What are the requirements?
A: You MUST have a copy of Halo PC installed to run it, and the system requirements are identical to the original. You do not have to have the CD in your drive to play CE, however.
Q: Where do I find Halo CE?
A: You can find it on numerous gaming sites, including GameSpot, bear in mind you will likely need to have or create a new account with these sites to download it.
Q: How do I install it?
A: Simply double-click the application and then wait.
Q: How do I play it?
A: Just click the shortcut it places on your desktop.
Q: OK, I've installed it, and played some games. Now what?
A: Next you download additional maps. You can find them from dedicating gaming sites, Halo Mods, and even specialist Halo CE sites.
Q: Been there, done that. I want more. How do I create my own maps?
A: Download the HEK from a dedicated gaming site, then follow the instructions given with that. You will also need a copy of the modelling application it links to.
Q: My Halo CE isn't working. What do I do?
A: CE is not supported by Bungie, so check the Gearbox forums. Gearbox are the developers of Halo PC.
Q: I've noticed that I get a lot more lag in Halo CE. Any help?
A: Halo CE has more to do than the original Halo, such as in-game information and support for map size. So just exit antivirus and any programs accessing the internet, and read this.
