A lot of people think that Reach didn't have enough character development. I don't necessarily agree, but wouldn't it be awesome if there were novels about Noble Team before Reach? It could start with how they assembled, and lead all the way up to Thom's death in the Covenant ship. These are just a couple plot ideas, I'm sure it'd be awesome no matter what the details were.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

No. I didn't find any of the characters likable and wouldn't enjoy reading about them. Plus, it'd probably just create more canon errors along with that whole abomination called, "Halo: Reach."

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

There would be nothing wrong with novels detailing the origins and service of Noble Team. I would love those.

There's an excellent fan-made comic called Halo: A Fistful Of Arrows that you should read if you're interested in Noble.

I have, I'm waiting for updates. I still want a proper novel.

Signatures are for squares.

Although I'm curious about Noble Team, it's easy to just say Reach never happened and imagine that Noble Team it'self is just propaganda.

Or perhaps their actions as perceived in-game aren't their real actions. We know Halsey met them and they do have a statue dedicated to their heroism in New Alexandria.

Yep, instead of putting thought into it, let's just ignore it all.

On-topic. Personally would love this. Would like novels about Halo 2 and 3 as well, to try to give Master Chief more character.

I was thinking about writing a rough draft of Halo 2 for awhile but eventually gave up on it and went onto write original fiction.

But we already know it all. They were taken from their respective planets when they were glassed, taken to Onyx, trained, augmented, then did Operation CARTWHEEL, then TORPEDO in the case of Six and Kat. Carter, Jun and Emile would have the exact same story except they'd do Operation PROMETHEUS.

And none of them would do these battles anyway! They were pulled out before them.

Personally, I'd love a novel, or any good piece of media, focused on the characters of Noble Team. They were wasted in the game, so a novel would allow me to stop thinking of them as 'the disappointment of Reach, which showed potential', and rather fully appreciate them as characters within Halo lore. Really, I want this to happen. Who knows, perhaps once I've read the book, I can go back to the game and be moved when they meet their fate.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Jorge novel would be awesome.

We should know better, because we are better.

I think this is a good idea. People complain that noble is cliche and flat, but trying to build 5 separate characters in a FPS game is quite hard. For there to have been really character development the game would have had to been longer and have lots more dialogue.

A novel would be the perfect way to develop the characters into actual human beings.

  • 07.05.2011 4:37 AM PDT

I think this is what was needed. this should've been released before Halo: reach. i think it's too late now.

  • 07.05.2011 9:07 AM PDT

i don't necessarily think this is a good idea, but it would give them a chance to explain why most of their ages don't match up with the creation on spartan lll company

  • 07.05.2011 9:18 AM PDT

No. I already dislike Noble team and I feel extremely jaded towards Halo: Reach. I don't want any lousy fiction about them.

I just want books by Eric Nylund, books that ignore Halo: Reach as canon.

Ahh it's you. Been a while hasn't it? We WILL finish this.

Just you wait.

YES. Noble team seemed cool but barely had character development. Believe these haters that I gotta share a thread with will love noble team if they make a book showing their origins, full character development and their pasts. So all haters who say no. Shut the f**k up. You will never get laid go live your empty life.

No, we do not know it all. What kind of cadets were they at Camp Currahee? How did groups like Noble, Echo, and Gauntlet form? What were their missions and operations prior to Reach? How did Jorge get conscripted?

C'mon, saying we know everything is just plain laziness.

I'd want a Noble book.
Flush out those character details like why were Jorge and Emile always butting heads?

  • 07.05.2011 3:05 PM PDT

At least one future story focusing on the formation of Noble Team and the various origins of its members would be a great thing to see. I know I at least am curious about how the team came to be and the like. I think either Carter or Kat would probably be best as the focal character of the story seeing as they were the only members of the team who were there since the beginning.

This I do not fully understand.

Carter was part of Alpha Company, Kat was part of Beta. Carter was pulled out of PROMETHEUS over a decade before TORPEDO, what was he doing in that time? What about Jun and Emile who were also part of Alpha, what were they doing for ten years to end up in Noble but as later additions since Carter and Kat were the original members. Is this implying there were OTHER members of NT that died in order for Kat and Carter to be the original members?
