I usually prefer about 16 players in each game. The ones without that many seem kind of boring to me. Tell me whats your preference and why. (Sorry for so many choices, but I wanted to be as accurate as possible).

Usually I try to join servers with 12+ people, just so that the teams have a higher chance of being balanced. Plus, it's more fun!

Twelve. A few people know why ^_^

Ummm why? Mayan calendar conspiracy?

Depend's on the map. Big map's, alway's 16. Medium, still 16. Small map's, 10.

4, i know it may sound crazy, but even on big maps (like blood gulch), i love playing 2 on 2, and my partner is always my trusty {LP} sergeant, also a good friend in school, and we verse some random people online, and to make it more tactical, we dont put vehicles at all, lol, its pretty fun that way

I think that 6~8 is about right for most maps, except possibly for infinity and Death Island. 4 is just a bit hard to find people, and more is irritating if they're half good at pistol, as everyone gets mowed down in seconds from the start.

Yeah, this definitely matters a lot based on the level. I like having a little too few than a little too many though, because with the latter you have worse lag.

Don't double post,

Anyway back on topic, I like 16 on any map, all maps are pretty big if you think about it. For example the map with the many small rooms with many teleporters, there are i think a dozen room or more so sometimes with 16 people you don't even have a person in the place your in. But I always like 16 on any map, on big map, open with warthogs and tanks equal fun, small corridors with 16 people with only hand weapons equal choas and fun too.

and tanks equal fun

I don't like tanks. They seem too overpowered to me and when you take someone out while they are driving it, another guy can just hop on in and blow you to smithereens, just as the last one failed to. I never seem to have an sr while these things are around : (

I know what you mean, if there are Banshees in a map I usually love getting in them, but when there are tanks its only a matter of seconds before they see you and blast you to pieces. Small, scorched pieces. Plus, if a team ever controls both tanks well, then there is no way you can win a CTF game in BG.

Back to the thread topic, a small change in my answer, if it is FFA Slayer then i think 6-10 (6-8 shieldless) is much better since you will have a chance to survive a few encounters before everyone gets mad and kills you.

8 so it is either a nice sized ffa or a more closeley woven 4 vs 4 team game.

Anything larger just get's unwieldy unless you are playing in a lan game where you can rapidly communicate to allies. Plus anything larger than 4 vs 4 makes unevenness with double teaming or triple teaming a big issue.

Such as landing an instant three players firing kill on you requires the focus of most of their team to get that level of team up where as with larger games smaller packs spread out much more often and if you are the first target in a wider net of locations you are in some trouble.

Wrong, there are ways, get a pistol go snipe them mid range, throw a nade or plasma nade on them. Find RL to kill them, snipe them when moving or not moving. Dont forget that on BG there are hills where you can hide suprise a tank and kill it.

The advice is greatly appreciated. I have tried the hills and those small little caves that lead to those paths around the boundaries, as well as using sniper rifles. Tanks are vulnerable, and usually I shut them down in a while, but not long enough for my teammates to do any real damage, since usually when a tank is empty everyone close to it rushes over and after a while of emptying the tank of users, the SR goes empty, and all goes downhill. I guess faster teamwork and a good plan does kill tanks. This definitely helped me see some ways that tanks can be conquered!

Tanks aren't hard to kill, they're actually not as goodas wrthogs. They're kinda slow, make big targets and you can easily take out the driver. I've taken out people in warthogs with pistols, even with shotguns at close to mid range. But heres a tip, try to get the tanks or warthogs close to you. For example, someone is raiding you base with a warthog on BG. Don't just stay on the top of the base trying to fight it, go into the base and try hitting it when they go around the entrances with shotguns, M5AB's, pistols etc. I've taken out warthogs like that, also shotguns are suprusing accurate at mid range with warthog, tanks and even people. Be strategy and you'll kill them.

i like it with 6. jsut because its more controlled for me and its not as laggy as a 8 on 8 whre you always die within 30 secs of spawning usually less. and for tanks, i just run behind a hill with only my head showing and then its like impossible for them to hit you unless they charge in which you can cover them in plasma nades

Depends on the weapon load and map but generally the more the merrier
The weapons in BG for example, 16 and heavy weapons can be chaos, it is often more luck than judgement and the lag can be crippling with all those big events going on. With a standard load out it is skill that counts and 16 players can really work in teams.
Death Island, Sidewinder and other big maps need 16 to work well.
If there are less than 8 on a map with shees I usually ask for people not to use the shees as it is a much better game without them. Credit and respect to the 90% of players who do actually stop using them as it greatly improves the game.
Even played a game on EU bungie the other day where one team let the other get 3 flags for free just to move to the next map as there were not enough players in, that sort of thing just improves the experience for everyone and is the opposite of the TK mentality.
(Geneva convention for Halo PC anyone?) LOL
