Subject: Move Pokemon to the RPG category in the Bungie Beta test signup

When I was completing the Bungie Beta tester signup I noticed that pokemon was in the kids' games section. This seems a really innacurate catagorisation. I'm 16 and when Pokemon Black/White came out over half my class bought a copy. Also pokemon has complex gameplay and can be played competively. So Why is it in the kids' games category, just because kids can play it?

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Pokemon was originally a kids' game. The majority of the Pokemon players' population are kids with some teenagers and adults. Sure, you can play competitively on Pokemon, but that's for hardcore gamers.

Besides, if you were in Japan, you'd see 10 year old kids playing competitively. I did and lost to a 10 year old in Pokemon. =/

This.

This is why the gameplay is almost exactly the same as it was in Pokemon Red. They don't try to keep a loyal community. They just market to younger and younger generations of children.

Older people do play Pokemon, but they're an "unofficial" community. Neither acknowledged nor catered to.

I'm 20 and I think Pokemon is a "kids game." I played them until Gold, and that is when they started the 2nd gen names. The games and series have gone down hill.

Its a kids game, as its marketed to kids. People say Mario is a kids game, yet everyone plays it. Its basically Nintendo "knowing" that older gamers will buy the game anyways, so they try marketing to the new generation.

I think the idea is that Pokemon is marketed for kids so each generation learns to love the games and continue playing into adulthood, creating an increasing player base without quitters.

They are failing.

Pokemon's on there as a kids' game because the people who made up the genre list are old and uncool. :)

I'd say it's category is spot on. Pokemon, Mario, Sonic, they were all games designed to sell to children, Pokemon especially (what with the trading cards etc). All kids games, and I've no interest in them really other than an occasional dabble of sonic on the arcade, and Mario on my DS.

However, I still enjoy watching some kid's tv programs (British ones, many of you won't have heard of, Postman Pat, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Tugs, Charlie Chalk to name but a few), and I'm 25. lol
I've NO PROBLEM with accepting them for what they are; children's tv programs.

So to sum up, I'd say that you guys hit the nail on the head classifying Pokemon in the 'Childrens games' category, but that doesn't stop high school-aged people and upwards enjoying them still.

I remember playing Pokemon Red and Blue ages ago. For some reason in college it keeps coming back though. Many people host Pokemon tournaments with iPads as gift prizes. Maybe I should get back into it, the last version I played was Gold/Silver.

Its kinda a big deal.

Saying that because some adults play a game classified as a kids game doesn't make it kids game is a pretty bad argument. It's still a kids game regardless, because Nintendo is trying to market kids to play it.

None the less, Pokemon is still a good game, but still a kids game.

90 percent of the customers who buy Pokemon are kids. So it makes sense that it's under "kids" in the survey. That's not to say teenagers or adults can't enjoy it since its rated E for Everyone.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

I agree with you but I find it amusing that your example of why it shouldn't be in the kids' section was that half of the kids in your class bought a copy.

A very convincing argument if you ask me.

I see where you're coming from, OP, but the fact that you're still a minor and therefore a kid doesn't help your argument. At the end of the day, it's still a kid's game that is also enjoyed by some older people.
