Subject: The Humans were once at war with the Forerunners

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

The following halo wikia site explains all:

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Prehistoric_human_civilization

Apparently the humans had fought on two fronts.

On one the flood (before the forerunners knew about them) where they discovered a cure to the outbreak
On the other the forerunners (after an invasion of their territories as an escape route from the flood)

The were defeated (by the forerunners) and were genetically altered to prehistoric (tier 7) form.....
This resulted in the destruction of the cure to the flood threat

Well it bit the forerunners in the -blam!- ass....

Indeed, only an idiot would hate the novel for that reason.

That is no reason to state a book to be "crap". It wasn't anything like a synopsis, that doesn't work in a novel written as a first person narrative. I'm led to believe you just read a synopsis online and decided that that was the story because your argument is based on one totally wrong statement.

Exact science, is not an exact science.

Fair enough, science fiction is tricky, they played it safe with Bear, he is no Alastair Reynolds!! The book suffered for its pre-amble and the concept was lofty at best, far to prosaic and mumbled to be a winner in my mind.

I have no real concept of the Forerunners to be honest I think a far better idea would have been to publish a book of the Architecture and bury some candid shots of a civilisation in ruins, and drive the narative with diary excerpts and so on....but that would be an original idea

Keep the mystery alive and so on!!

Not really, i wouldn't have been able to grasp at many of the concepts at 14, school doesn't cover most of it, not to mention it is greg bear

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

I find it funny how Cryptum haters never give any valid reasons why they hate Cryptum,it's either

-Lack of actions(many stories have demonstrated that you don't need action to have a great story)

-Cryptum -blam!-s canon

-It's crap period

I spit on their so called reasons.

No, that's just explaining your situation that lead to your prejudice against thinking 14 years are capable of undersanding Cyrptum, rather than giving a reason why it's not prejudice.

That is the reason. You are not welcomed on the waypoint forums.
