"There is nothing either good nor evil, but thinking makes it so."-William Shakespeare

First things first, I don't hate Bungie. I love them in fact, have even played the marathon and myth games. However that's exactly why i'm so hurt by this experience. I realize that i'm just a nobody and they don't owe me anything, but i'm a buyer of their products and without lots of people like me bungie wouldn't be anything too. So why would they do something like this and refuse to give us a clear cut explanation. I mean they told us be ready and get your f5 keys ready then they go and list it behind everyones back who had been waiting up all night. They respond 5 hours later with a "oops it was an accident" and then say there sorry, that they were frustrated too and that they would figure out whats going on and tell us. Then they said to not worry, that all the bags weren't gone, they left the tag on their tweet #there will be swag. Then they say it'll be a few days before they can tell us anything. Then today they say oh sorry all gone. So first they sold it behind the peoples backs who had been waiting since early, or most of them anyway. Then promise to fix it, then say....nope sorry.
Bungie is normally not like this!!! What happened here!!!

Not to mention the lies and secrecy, they don't even tell us what really happened, cause the truth is this. They sold it as a seperate listing because it was convenient to, lied about it being a technical error (theres evidence of this because of halcyons post when this was going on saying oh ya "It's legit. <3's"), didn't tell us they were selling them, effectively tricking everyone who was responsible enough to be ready, lied about it being a mistake (see comment above), pretend to care about the people who were waiting and then say there will be more. Now today after 4 days of straight f5ing twitter, store, amazon, facebook, and Bnet and listening to dumb-ass comments from the very people who mostly (not all of them) just got lucky and got a bag saying, "stop being mad, they don't owe you anything!" after all that, they say their sold out.

The real reason here they said wait is obvious, they just didn't want people to get mad at them like they have every right too. They were waiting for the rage to die down, but just cause they avoid rage doesn't make lying to me and telling me to be ready any more right or ok. Unlike what people have been saying, there is ONE thing every company owes it's loyal fans and customers...honesty. It's the building block of a good relationship between company and consumer (fan), and that's the reason I feel so hurt. Not because I didn't get a bag, but because of the WAY I didn't get one, if they had said before hand, its gonna be a free for all, or like put them up for everyone to have a chance, I woulda been like oh well I tried, I wouldn't have been mad; but this feels like my chance to even try was stolen!!! I'm not really mad, like ya a little, but honestly i'm more sad that Bungie whom I admire so much did that to me and all of us.

Once again I'll say, I really do love you Bungie, and I still do in the kind of way you still love your brother if he punches you in the -Blam!-. I still did buy all the posters you guys had and the shirts, it all goes to charity. I'm not gonna be an idiot spoiled brat and say stupid stuff like "boycott bungie" or other idiots saying how they aren't gonna buy your stuff anymore, or how they're so angry they're gonna like buy from your competitors only and stuff." This changes nothing between us, I still think you guys are the best, even if it hurts that you gave me a whollop *youch, that smarts!!!* You guys are still and always will be my favorite company. I admire all of you alot and I'm loyal to you guys till the end and can't wait for your next title. I just wish you could give us a little explanation on why you did that. It would help. Long live Bungie. I <3 U
Signed, your loyal fan for life,
with love, William Casey Chadwick

Do you have any proof for this claim? You seem to be pretty sure of yourself, especially to make an accusation like this.

I'm gonna second this request. Would love to see why OP thinks this is the case.

I love the way that Bungie sells loads of stuff to the fans, donates all the monies to charity, and gets complained at for it.

So one Bungie contractor happens to be browsing the forums, notices what's going on, posts that Gorilla is legit, and suddenly we have a conspiracy akin to the Illuminati happening? If you're going to try and make this kind of claim, you should at least first make sure posts like this

Truth be told, we don't know if they're gone or not. The Amazon store front is experiencing technical issues. As soon as we hear back from them, we'll have a better picture of what in the world is going on and where we're at in terms of numbers.

Sorry for all the confusion. We're trying to keep everybody updated at the same time we're fighting the fires.

aren't going around. They kinda hurt your argument.

I'm not calling it a conspiracy, i'm saying that if one knew that means they could have told everyone via twitter to the people who were waiting but they didn't. I'm just wondering why. I also am not complaining, I'm just pointing out that pulling a switcharoo on people like that just isn't right. If i were complaining or ungratefull id be acting like an idiot and saying that bungie is an -blam!- or something and i totally dont feel that way.

You may not be complaining, but you're basically accusing them of doing something that they clearly didn't know about/couldn't fix, based off of one circumstantial post. The quote I posted shows that Bungie didn't know what had happened, and once they found out, they were going to work on it. It's hard to work on a problem if no one communicates to you that there IS a problem, which is exactly what happened in this case. Something on Amazon's end got borked, they were working on fixing it, Bungie was later informed about said problem and were told they would be kept up to speed. They were as much in the dark about everything as we were, and they said as much via various tweets/forum posts.

No, it does not, because that one (Halcylon) probably wasn't the one with access to the Twitter account. That one employee knew does not entail that everyone at Bungie knew, or that even the people who needed to know knew. For all you know, Halcylon saw what was happening, made that post, and immediately tried to call or e-mail whoever could get the message out.

You seem to be thinking that an organization of Bungie's size functions like a small family where everyone is generally aware of the same things and "on the same page," so to speak. Simply put, that is not the case.

And if you still doubt who's at fault here, look for the link in the main swag bag thread to the NeoGaf post where Urk says that Amazon sold bags well in excess of what Bungie had (that is, more than 777), and Bungie is now asking employees to donate personal items and memoribillia to help fulfill orders.

And you come here, doubting their level of committment?

ya but a seperate listing didnt magically apear by itself, if you've sold stuff on amazon before, you'd know you have to deliberately put in every detail to list the item, and if u do something on accident or something screws up on accident you don't tell people to go buy from it if its accidentally listed. doesn't make sence unless it was purposefully done.
But for all I know you could be right, there could be some magical explain all answer, that alleviates bungie of any wrong doing.

You also don't magically put it up on someone else's store page.

What I think is this: the constant F5'ing of the 1st bag listing basically DDoS'd Amazon's servers, so they did something to try to put up a second listing to divert some of the traffic, that listing somehow ended up on Gorilla Print's store, and Bungie didn't figure any of this out until Hal's post.

I just really wish they would explain everything that happened. It would give closure to alot of people I think. Like I said, I love them alot, nothing changes the fact that I think they are the best gaming company in the world, for reasons like what urk said on the neogaf forum. People just want answers, and understandably. I was also thinking it could have something to do with that, but on the twitter account they said the issues weren't traffic related.
