Besides, banning someone just for being misinformed is just... stupid.I really have to disagree. You should make an effort to make sure the things you say are correct; talking just for the sake of talking (with little to no regard for whether what you say is true or not) is not a behavior that should be encouraged. People should be held accountable for what they say and I think cracking down on people that feel they are not (accountable) would make for better discourse on these forums.
As for dmg04, Yax, and delahalo UK, I understand you positions. It could lead to a "slippery slope" like abuse of powers; it could be used as a justification to ban those who post the examples you listed and it does seem to be (at least initially) difficult to enforce. But I still believe this rule, more strictly enforced, would be for the better. We have a set of rules which encourages our moderators to apply critical thinking to decision making. They won't be banning users for posting false information regarding how much weight they can lift, what their name is, or what they ate for dinner (all unverifiable "facts"), but rather banning users for posting information that can be proven to be false by doing a quick Google search. Since you all included an element of satire in your posts, let me direct you to a quote by perhaps the best satirist, Voltare - "The best is the enemy of the good". This community has a penchant for discouraging ideas because they are not perfect in every respect. I'd ask you not to dismiss this on those grounds.
