The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

Spartan IIII please.

7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

I would if I was recruited like the first batch of S-IIIs. Orphans who were told that they could get revenge on the Covenant and save humanity. But under normal circumstances no I wouldn't sacrafice my life to be a Spartan.

I'd still rather not be a solider that is considered expendable. Created for the sole purpose to go on some suicidal mission one day.

Good luck being a cripple.

And they were "expendable" because they couldn't afford MJOLNIR for so much people, take out the MJOLNIR out of the Spartan II program and you'll see who is the "expendable" group.

I'd rather not be a Spartan in general. I'd rather not be a cripple or be chosen so that I would die one day.
The "expendable" group is those that ONI would allow to die on purpose. ONI created Spartan 3's with the purpose of sending them on suicidal missions. They would never do that with Spartan 2's. Of course both groups ended up dying either way. What I'm saying is that I'd have a problem knowing that I'm just some pawn of ONI who trained me to die. I'm not important enough to them for me to live. Both groups of Spartan's served Earth well. This is not a Spartan 2 vs Spartan 3 debate. This is about what you would rather be. Between the two I'd rather not be a Spartan 3 because of the fact above. Personally, I'd rather be an ODST.

Aye and if it weren't for MJOLNIR being so damn expensive the Spartan III's may have had a chance on their suicide missions. But they were only given crappy SPI.

But I'd choose a Spartan III over a II and not risk being crippled.

To each his own. Noble Team had MJOLNIR and they were on par with Jorge, a Spartan 2.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Noble Team have a special version of MJOLNIR armor? I mean the original MJOLNIR armor was meant to be worn only by Spartan 2's because they had the physical augmentations to handle it. The Spartan 3's augmentation were not as extensive I think because again, the augmentations cost a lot of money. So the Spartan 3's might have had a slightly different version of MJOLNIR. Either way, a Spartan is a Spartan.

We kill that which we do not understand...and then promptly tea-bag it.

At first I was like, Hell Yes I would become a Spartan-II (better training, knowing that I watch over the watchmen)! But, after much consideration I must say that my true answer would be simply: Yes. First of all, I'm that type of person, willing to do anything for the "greater good", even if most of the time it's a severely flawed way of thinking. I know I have this one life to live, and to me, the best way to live it is to be the best damn person I can be. I know that the pain would be unimaginable, that I may end up dying in the augmentation process, or die in some cheap way on the battlefield (lucky plasma grenade throw by a grunt). But hell, at least through my death I helped inspire my brother Spartans. To serve and make sure that humanity isn't another footnote in the Universe, that's what it's all about. Another reason for being a Spartan-II for me, is that I don't like the idea of a reckless and morally corrupt person like Wagner controlling my fate (have more freedom as a Spartan-II), even if that means I may not even become a hulking titan and rather a "mistake". Regret nothing, and your life will be as fulfilling as it could ever be.

Spartan III's had better training that the II's.
More freedom as a Spartan II? Where have you read that? Spartan II's had less freedom than the III's, seeing how everybody could boss around a Spartan II due to rank, unlike the Spartan III's whom were secret or high-ranked like in Noble Team's case.

Hell no.

Ripped from any human relationship I ever had? Forced through a brutal training regime? Undergoing potentially deadly augmentations? And with a future of being forever alienated among other humans and used a tool by the UNSC to eventually die? And if I survived the war, what would my future be? Continued service until I was useless, and then a desk job? No chance of a normal life?

Well, If I was kidnapped as a child to become a Spartan II then of course, but If I was asked a kid to get revenge for my parents I would most likely be scared of the things that killed my parents then I wouldn't be a Spartan III. Maybe a Marine or ODST at that. However, if asked as a teenager then no. I know I would -blam!- out at the last minute to become a Spartan II since I am lazy. :p

I really like the Spartan II's more than the Spartan III's because I like the characters better. That's about it.
