"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

Are any of them mad or hate Halsey? (apart from Soren-66 but he's probably glass now)

And does John think about his life on Eridanus-II and what became of his family?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Daisy, Ralph, and Joseph I guess.

Spartan II-151
Look, just talk to me. I'm sure we'll get along.

They were all practically brainwashed. All they think is "fight, kill, save humanity" now.

So what about peace time?

What would Spartans do?

I can see Kelly winning the 100m sprint in the Olympics, Linda being a marksman.

Hey, maybe the become sports stars.

*Sigh* if you honestly believe that... ugh.

Soldiers yes, brainwashed killing machines? No. All the Spartans still have their emotions, personalities, and quirks. Halsey SPECIFICALLY forbade any brainwashing or things similar to that. The spartans are simply highly trained, extremely professional soldiers.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Well there are Spartans which I hated what they became.

Anyways, from my knowledge. Daisy in Halo Legends. But since most of these Spartans are smart enough to understand that they serve a higher purpose. Essentially the guardians of Humanity. I'm sure they can get over it.

Oh wait, the crippled S-II's, boy they must of hated what they became.

There would be no peace time for the spartans. They are soldiers, thats what they will always be. Just because the war if 'over' doesn't mean that the Spartans arn't needed to fight, humanity is now faced with multiple alien races and factions within those races, after the war is over, there is just as much danger as there was before if not more.

Well, considering most of the spartan II class died during their augmentation or were severely disfigured, maybe.

The Spartan II's were more of a cohesive group and became a family. In the novels, John reflects on his childhood and he cannot recall most of his life on his home planet. I would say that most of the Spartans II's that were not negatively affected by their augmentation are fine with what they became.

The Spartan III's however were made to be expendable. They were sent in to very hostile environments and nearly all of each class died. While they were trained by CPO Mendez and Kurt ( a Spartan II), the recruits were not screened in the same manner as the Spartan II recruits. They were also givin an extra compound during their augmention which has very adverse side affects. The only surviving Spartan III's we know about are the ones inside of Onyx. I would say that most of the Spartan III's are like the Spartan II's in that they may not like that they were stolen from their families, but they are the only hope for humanity.

I doubt that the S-III's were stolen from their families to the same extent as the S-II.

If anything, their families were stolen from them by the Covenant, as most S-III's were orphans who had been willing to be a Spartan at a young age. They made that choice when they jumped out of the pelican.

Master Chief does seem pretty suicidal throughout most of the Halo trilogy.

I don't mean literally brainwashed...I simply mean they were crafted into soldiers specifically, that's why they never disobey an order. As I recall, John had plenty of emotions running through his head, especially in TFoR right (sadness and whatnot when he sees what happens to his new 'family')? He just focuses on the mission first. I see what you thought I said though.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

Jorge seemed frustrated with what he was and how he was viewed.

Actually Jorge-052 was stated to have been 'a firm believer in provincial self-rule'

Some.

Halsey was honest with them. She implied "You have been called upon to serve, you will be trained... and you will become the best we can make of you. You will be the protectors of Earth and all her colonies" to the recruits. They vowed to stay and fight, some plotted revenge on the covenant from killing their families and destroying their home worlds which speaking of the devil is what/how most of the II's were recruited by grabbing children who escaped their destroyed and glassed home worlds.

Why wouldn't you be? the Spartans in greek time were the toughest warriors around? If you watched Deadliest warrior an episode explains even a ninja can't kill a spartan, a ninja barley even did anything to a spartan.

They weren't brainwashed they were told from honesty that they are recruited to serve, John is stated to remember things when in childhood before abduction in the books.

They couldn't leave though or I'm not sure.
