Marathon for iPad Quick Guide

So Marathon 1 for iPad is now out and with it are some new features, few, but new nonetheless.

The purchasable features you may notice in the game are:

Master Chief Mode: This $0.99 mode allows you to essentially play god in Marathon for iPad. With it, you're given the options to initiate Invincibility whenever you please, the ability to completely regenerate all shields whenever you want and the options to give all weapons and fill your ammunition completely whenever you want.

HD Mode: This somewhat seemingly pricey $3.99 mod allows you to witness Marathon for iPad in the clearest and nicest way possible. Hi-Res textures and environments fill the world. Walls look more accurately textured, ceilings and floors have that metal shimmer and all sorts of other materials have special visual additions beyond that what you would see without the addition.

Although the mods are awesome (I instantly bought them before even playing the game and have not regret it at all), the game is definitely still enjoyable without them. The introduction may seem a bit more abrupt than experienced players are used to seeing as you start in front of the first terminal you encounter in the game and are not forced to travel through the caverns on the start so don't feel like something went wrong when you pop up already in the hallways.

The game's UI is definitely different than what you're used to. It has the option for touch based shooting (touching the screen to shoot instead of tapping an onscreen button which is the default option) and has an option for crosshairs to be enabled as well. Both are preferential so up to you all the way. The game's overall play is what we all know and love of course and nothing has been modified in the play department or the story.

Upon starting a new game, you'll be promted with the "Oath to the Videmaster" page above the difficulty selection screen that tells the player to be sure to swear to the oath of the vidmaster doing the usual nearly impossible challenge. For those who don't know, google it*.

If you haven't played previous Marathon games before, be sure to jump in with your head on tight and READ the terminals. 70% of Marathon players have trouble completing missions because they jump through the terminals as if they were pointless hint boxes. They help you and tell you a story. Embrace them.

Any more questions I'm here to help :)
