Circumstances put Noble-6 in role of less importance to Master Chief,a role in which 6 was forced to lay down his life and 6 did so willingly. Also in my opinion S-IIIs may fight and work with more determination than the S-IIs(if that's possible) as they have learned about the older Spartans and their augmentations and armor.Knowing that they are inferior probably only makes them fight harder.I like 6 more mainly because I was Noble-6.They were both heroes why is one hero better then another?Without 6 the Chief would have died on Reach.

Without the Librarian no one would have been alive,i can do this too.

In Reach, IMO, Six and Noble Team actually showed personality more often, and had more character development.

I'm sorry, but that's laughable. More character development? The development was horrible in Reach. If you want to see good character development, play ODST. One of the best Halo campaigns, imo.

Reach had more character development than the entire trilogy combined, imo.

:|

The only character that "grew" was Thel.

Really? You can't genuinely think that. I mean, I'm not saying that the trilogy is a masterclass in character development, but there was more growth than in Reach, without a shadow of a doubt. Reach had none, whilst the trilogy had clear, but, granted, not amazing, development.

  • 07.08.2011 12:18 PM PDT

Master Chief of course. He's iconic. We learned about him in the books and followed his adventure throughout the trilogy.

Why would anyone like Six? He had virtually no character development. I learned nothing about him. He barely said anything. The whole "the player is the main character" thing is bull crap. It's just a rip off of the Gordon Freeman concept, a concept that Master Chief barely got away with. Two more characters (Rookie and Six) shouldn't be the same deal. How could Six even be considered canon? He's not iconic like Master Chief is, especially as seeing how players can change his appearance in the campaign.

Master Chief...by far.

Six doesn't even compare.

Your Noble Six, or the canon? Because my Noble Six could wipe the floor and his ass with Master Chief. Lieutenant David-B312 (mine) has single handedly defeated thirteen SPARTAN-IIs, and dozens of Elite Generals, by himself, before falling because he was racked with the guilt of killing his SPARTAN brothers. My reasoning for this backstory is that... well, the SPARTANS are all dead on the final mission, yet no Covenant bodies. The only one who could've killed them was Noble Six (mine, dunno about yours).

Oh, and to add to that list, has personally assisted in the assassination of a Sangheili Field Marshall who was backed by Zealots (Master Chief killed Regret who was guarded by the much less disciplined Honor Guards), as well as assisted in the destruction of a Covenant Supercarrier, has Master Chief? No. His biggest kill is an Assault Carrier, which is dwarfed by a Supercarrier many times over.

David-B312 >>> John-117

As for canon Noble Six, I'd say Master Chief wins, but against my Noble Six? Hell no.

This concludes my discussion.

lol
why would your super n6 have to fight 13 spartan 2s?

also, damn dude read the books. Chiefey pulls off some crazy-ass stuff. Like assisting in the destruction of an entire covenant armada, including the completely massive refuel and resupply station unyielding heirophant, all the help he had was a couple other S-II's, Halsey herself, a random marine and a UNSC admiral.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

Six can't jump more than four feet in the air, can't hold a DMR steady when shooting, can't hold his own in a fistfight against an Elite, can't board a Wraith without blowing it up, can only sprint for five seconds, et cetera.

Six is a poor excuse for a Spartan.

The only character that showed any development was Jorge, and he died. Emile underwent some changes throughout the campaign, but you see so little of him up until he's changed that it hardly matters.

Reach was a poor excuse for a story. Red Team's story plus flashbacks to their training would've been much stronger in my opinion.

I agree, I was saying that all of the original Halo's characters do devolop, but in subtle manners.

Reach's story was....abysmal

Ah, I thought you were saying that Reach's characters were being developed subtly.

And yes, I believe Halo 2 showed a lot of character development. There's obviously Thel's whole situation, then Tartarus' inner struggle between the promise of godhood at the expense of following Truth during his descent into madness--there's a lot of depth to Halo 2's story.

That was not my point.I was merely pointing out that it was only the fact that if John-117 was placed in the same position as Noble-6 he would have died. Both are hyper lethal and both are good characters which allow you,the player to feel immersed in the Halo universe. Why argue about which character is better as both meant to be somewhat blank slates for us to place ourselves in the Halo world.Neither are meant to be the most developed in the games. The Chief was given 3 games to subtly develop his personality without interfering with our ability to imagine ourselves as the hero of an epic sci-fi universe.

Six, because of his commendations and apparent skills in comparison to Master Chief.

Six is the role played silhouette of the online matchmaking community.
Chief is a strategist/CQC. Because of the way the story treats Six, I could assume that he is also a representation of a good matchmaking player. I believe that a matchmaking player that's at least good at everything is better then someone who favors limited weapons such as MC favors CQB; no matter how much strategy you throw in the hat.

John couldn't do it in CE either, actually, John couldn't get in Wraiths at all for that matter, he couldn't highjack vehicles, he also couldn't sprint at all.

By the way, I don't know why your Six can't get in Wraiths, but mine can, without that much trouble.

I would have to say Master Cheif, Ive Grown up with Master Cheif KNOWING No other human can defeat Master Cheif, Six is a newcomer in my eyes, a weaker man. If you know anything about halo you will choose Master Cheif

MC could easily be defeated just to tell you for example in CQC by Fred. Six is definently not a weaker man, he simply has not shown his full potential.

I believe that Six would perform and equally match Master Chief given the same atmosphere.

oh yea and if you knew anything about halo you would spell master chief correctly and actually give a reasonable explanation to your vote instead of a complete biased point of view.

Although I would still go with MC just because in my opinion he's more bad-ass.
Uh, they're both good when they're being controlled by the "video game player", so, unless you haven't read the first 3 Halo books, you won't know.

Basically, John would strangle 6 to death. Spartan IIs were much faster, stronger, & IIIs aren't even supposed to have shields on their armor. So, before you guys try to "troll" this, the only reason why you aren't agreeing with me is because you didn't read the books. Trust me, if you really did, you'd completely agree, & don't say you did, because you're most likely going on Halo Nation & all that wikipedia crap.

Yeah, who doesn't know that people just go on Halo Nation anymore?

I've read the books and I still dislike John, I like Spartan III's for the whole "no shields on their armor" thing, shows they can get the job done without any special equipment, unlike the Spartan II's.

Derp derp derp derp. If you board a Wraith and use the melee it'll blow it up unless you're playing retard mode (Easy, Normal, or Heroic). And the fact is, John survived past one game to learn how to board Wraiths properly. Six didn't.

It only took him an armor change to get it right, alright.

Unlike the Spartan II's, they didn't have titanium armor, and still they were more efficient.

After reading the Fall of Reach and First Strike I came to respect John. But I just hate how both Avery (Contact Harvest) and John act differently in the games than they do in the books.

You don't understand this. Master Chief can't jack Wraiths in Combat Evolved not because Bungie was trying to impose limitations on the character. Master Chief couldn't jack vehicles because Bungie didn't come up with that game mechanic til Halo 2.

And even then, Noble Team weren't regular SIII's, they were selected because their genes were in line with that of SPARTAN-II candidates, meaning Noble Team were very exceptional Spartans.

John, Sam and Kelly boarded a Covenant ship in the 2330's when they didnt have shields, their first encouter with the covenant. And all of Noble Team were given Mjolner, yet Emile couldnt look behind him and see that an Elite Zealot was about to stab him in the back.

You fail to see the point. Lord Slade is hating on Noble Six for game mechanics. So, using the exact same logic Chief was just as stupid in Halo CE.

Oh, and I doubt he magically learned Wraith tank controls by reaching Halo 2.

Edit: to respond to somebody in the last page. So honestly not loving the Chief is being on a bandwagon, but worshiping him as a god is not?

*SIGH* Let's look at the scene FULLY.

A: Zealot drops when the phantom is above and behind the cannon, aka where Emile couldn't see even if he was looking out of the back. Due to dropping when the phantom is overhead, it's masked on motion tracker.
B: Second zealot drops ontop of the windshield, gets killed.
C: First Zealot walks up slowly enough it DOES NOT SHOW UP ON MOTION TRACKER. By the time it even growled, if Emile dodged he would had been stabbed in the gut (face if he ducked). If he leapt over the edge of the platform that's just being stupid and risking a potential wound, or that the zealot would follow and stab him if he got stunned.

Stop acting as if being a Spartan means you know everything about your current location automatically as the battle progresses.
