Nintendo has it's place, keep in mind it started roughly a century ago making card games. It keeps to that idea, making games that are much more about addictive entertainment value as opposed to story-heavy or visual-heavy games. For example, most everyone will be willing to sit and play some mario-kart, because it's a smooth not-too-intense simple easy game. Halo on the other hand is an adernaline rush on a disc, with semi-complex controls, and requires a decent resume of first person shooters to be skilled off the bat. For that reason, either people think Halo is awsome, or they think it sucks (prolly cause they suck!).
Remember though, that in order for Nintendo to be successful, (which i predict they will be), they cannot focus on the current trends in gaming, such as ridiculous graphics and online play. They do what they do incredibly well, perfectly in my opinion, and nobody could replace them. It is my hope that not only will they stay true to the oldschool style of gaming, but will become innovative in their game design, independant from state of the art graphics and the online play. The dual-screen for example, is them trying a different kind of innovation, one that will change not only the look and feel of games, but the way they are played. I'm looking forward to the next few years of nintendo. Just think of Wario World, if you haven't played it, than go play it. It's incredible.
