I agree, Bungie and Halo went out with not a cry but a wimper.

OP

I completely agree, Bungie Day was a disappointment. Finally someone who realizes the truth.

Bungie is not number two, so very far from that. And Valve is not number one either, if you've been gaming since the early 90's there are far too many other companies that come to mind as "first."

Also, Valve stole their "Source" engine from ID software under the license of "GoldSoruce" which was the first engine to be used for the original Quake. Don't let your extreme fanboyism get to you, Valve is a company that used theft as a way to the top. Old Quake code can still be found in Half-Life 2, by the by. Valve fail.

Oh, and Source engine sucks pretty penny ass. It's outdated tech from 2004 just with extra code and crap thrown on it to make it look shiny. Oooooo, physics! It only lasts so long, now that 99% of all other engines look 20X better.

And Bungie, they stopped being relevant to the FPS genre after 2006.

The fact that the source code is based off of quake's doesn't make any of the source engine games bad, nor does it make valve a bad company (seeing as their games are renowned for being fun, competitively relevant, and well kept). Not to mention the fact that what their source code is based off of has no bearing on discussion about how well they treat their community (which is undeniably good).

If you wanted to talk about a company that has good relations with their community and also has an amazing engine behind its games, then DICE would certainly be number one in my book. But, as far as community interaction alone goes I would definitely vote valve as number one.

Chuck Norris doesn't mow his lawn, he simply stands outside and dares it to grow.

Bungie day was fun for me. Thanks to Bungie making a lot of the great games they did. They will always be classics in my book. If I have any dissapointments, its Reach not getting more map packs. It felt like Halo 3 had a longer life span, at least for me.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Fixed.

Despite the butt pounding we took, I enjoyed every one of those games - everybody was cool, talkative, having fun.

Anyway I enjoyed B-Day, It was the best day of halo I've played in years. I got to play with a bunch of community members and made some friends out of it too. That's good enough for me

We don't need a bunch of freebies to have a good Bungie day, It's what we make it. That's what makes it awesome.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I thought Bungie day was successful.

HACK THE PLANET!

I wish they would do a little housekeeping now. Like updates on why some amazon orders haven't shipped, the status of the guerilla bags, maybe give us a total amount raised for charity, etc. Though I am sure that is coming.

All in all, Bungie Day was exactly what I expected it would be!

I enjoyed myself and that is all I really care about.

Complaining about not matching up with Bungie is pretty stupid imo. That's like getting free lottery tickets and complaining when you don't win.

Keep in mind that the Anniversery stuff will still be in their store till September, I'm sure they'll be happy to let us know how much we raised after that.

I was happy with Bungie Day, although Bungie did not have a vidoc or anything special, all of my friends were on Halo which rarely happens. At least they spent their own time and money celebrating the best day of the year. : )

I don't care about not getting into a game in the playlist, nor do I care about the lack of announcements regarding their new game, nor do I care for another steak. I've had too much in the past few days as it is.

What did it for me was a superlative filled article from Urk, just like the ones we used to get in between Halo 1 and 2. The ones that Frankie would write to drive us into a rabid fanboyish tizzy.

I've found myself less active around here, and not as excited as I used to be, since there's nothing really new coming for a while, and especially considering Aerospace wasn't what I expected (couldn't give less of a -blam!- about mobile games, personally). But that last paragraph reminded me of those days when we were anxiously waiting for the next tidbit of info regarding H2, and we'd devour them as they came, analyzing them far too closely, looking for anything new so we could rush and make a poorly written thread about it before anyone else did.

We knew nothing at all about what was coming. All we knew was Installation 04. How could they possibly be improving our baby, Halo? New vehicles? New weapons? Earth! What's that weapon that Jackal is holding? It's a new weapon! No it's a Needler you stupid -blam!-! No you're -blam!- stupid! Will they bring back the pistol? lol ur a ghey pistol whore!

We didn't have the same kind of excitement for Halo 3 or Reach. We had already experienced the excitement of that first sequel, the game that started this silly midnight game launch trend. We won't have it for Halo 4 or anything Halo after it, doubly so for me, considering that I don't trust anyone but Bungie with Halo.

So we find ourselves in the dark once again. There are no screenshots to over-analyze, no hints from Frankie or Urk, no cakes full of pies, no ninjas on fire going 150 mph through a hospital zone, no Mister Chief at the end of the weekly updates that actually had info to share. Yet. Hopefully it'll be soon.

I can't wait to go through that amazing and horrible experience again.

This.

I do miss anticipating the weekly updates like I did back before Halo 2 came out. They teased so much yet gave away so little and it got me very, very excited for the game. I just want there to be something, anything to talk about Bungie wise since there hasn't been for a while.

Hmmm, I don't know what to say...

This very well might have been the last Bungie day within 2 years.

Indeed. They did a lot for the fans, a lot of people are just butthurt/petty and felt like they were entitled to certain items and more.

I can't believe this discussion is still going on. Bungie Day is over. Bad day or not, lets just kick back and think of the awesome times Bungie gave us.
