No matter how hard any console-making bum works to build a super-duper all pwning console, it's not gonna work. PC is and always will be the most powerful gaming machine. Playing on consoles is still fun though, but that's only me.

Yeah, but i can buy an xbox and have it playing the most graphically intensive games at a steady 60fps for £300 or thereabouts. To have a PC playing the same games at the same framerates would cost somewhere in the region of £2000, plus a monitor, plus the games. Consoles are great for gaming, but the community sucks.

You can't play half life2 on the xbox on near the quality as you can on even a not so good, $500 computer. Plus you can do alot more than play games on a computer.

the x1900xt vid card for the computer is comparable to 360's.

Xbox 360 has a decent cpu. I think its a tri core 3.2ghz or something like that.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

How is a console gonna have DX10 when it's not even out for PCs yet?

yea to bad the 7800GTX 512mb SLI beat the hell outta it...

too bad the x1900xt 512mb in crossfire beats the hell out of 7800GTX 512's in SLI.....

Comparing the cards individually, the x1900xt is faster than the 7800GTX. The 7900GTX's are going to be faster than the x1900xt's, but are going to consume ridiculous amounts of power. In order to run 2 7900GTX's in SLI you will need a PSU about 700 watts(to power the whole system, not just the cards. They will eat up about 400 themseleves)

The only advantage that consoles had over PC was that they were cheaper, and that the games HAD to work out of the box because they couldn't be patched later.

Now that consoles have gone up in price, PC's have come down, and console games are shipping as buggy as PC ones there is nothing, not one thing that a console does that a PC won't do better.

That's a faulty question.

A console and a PC are different. Neither is better than the other.

I didnt read what everybody posted but i have this to say. Think of a console as a picture. While everything is still moving along, you take a picture of what you currently have. That is a console. It is a good picture, but everything is still moving .....errr......i hope that helped.

Computers get better everyday. And new, better graphics cards and computers come out every month (or so it seems)

ok i kinda get what your talking about but that was still a horrible analogy....

basically, consoles are developed once every few years. Computer parts are being put out every few months

nope

You cant truly compare it with a computer. You need to benchmark them accordingly. So basically youd have to get a 360 processor capable of running on a socket 939 board.

and no its not cheeper, its cheaper.

this isn't true really most of the time it has been but now with the ps3 and it's reality sythisizer. PC's dont even have anything close to that kinda of graphics. The only pc's that can run that at a good rate is super computers like the ones used to make movies with render farms.

Up to now games and pcs have used texture mapping realtime but low quality. when movies and stuff dont they use the RS which looks good but up to now it hasn't been made in real time.

nope, not at all. The graphics cards that they use for 3d rendering and other 3d applications like CAD aren't very good for gaming. They have a completely different architecture. For instance check out the quadro fx series....the high up models costing above $1000. If you were to benchmark that against a 7800GTX, the quadro, costing nearly 5x as much, would get crushed....Say you were to render some stuff, the 7800 would get crushed by the quadro.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681413312 1 yea believe it or not, this card would get lower fps in games than a 7800GTX. Its just designed for a completely different thing.

And the ati x1900xt is about equal to ps3's and xbox 360's GPU, if not faster. Also the 7900GTX's are coming out in the next few months are ridiculously fast. Theyre so fast and eat up so much power, that you need at least a 600 watts(the whole system not just hte card). An average system now with a high end card will take about 400 watts.

LOL reality synthesizer = cheap gimmick to make it sound like it simulates life. It will be nice, but nothing god-like.

Here we go. First off, while the 360 is cheaper than a PC that would have relative performance, it doesnt have near the capabilities. (I hope someday that MS releases a web browser for the 360) Of course, on a console there are no viruses (so far), while on a PC there are thousands. (for Windows) Finally, consoles usually last at least 4 or 5 years before they become "obsolete" while if you buy a moderately good computer today, it will most likely be "obsolete" within a few years.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, it is all really a matter of personal preference.

yes, the 360 is cheaper....which i guess makes it "better"

but we were referring to the power it has anyway, not its usefullness.
