The game could be Halo themed and have a story.

My idea is to set it up like some other MMO's have, with two opposing sides. UNSC v. Covenant

Have wildlife like the flood to kill.

As you level up, your military rank goes up.
As a UNSC marine, you could eventually "evolve" into a spartan.

Have major pvp battles, set up missions to build colonies on new worlds and fight over territories.

I like the thought of a Halo FPSMMO.
I was disappointed to hear the first project got scrapped.

Evolving into a SPARTAN? Like... maybe when you hit a certain rank you can CHOOSE to become a certain Specialist. Like a SPARTAN or an ODST.

And an elite that heals could summon Engineers.

a MMO would be awesome IF there was multible types of games... if there was a campaign wich you could play and beat then go online and chill in a EVE style online where you could Fly UNSC Ships or if you're Covenant fly a Covenant Ship and Land on certain planets and have a war or something.. having "Wars" online Human VS Covenant Battles in space or on ground. and other game types. and then have a regular multiplayer Maybe... That would be awesome. Just my mind though

"There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness. There is only WAR!"

it would have to be a mix of games like EVE, Dust 514, And star trek online.

Territories for capture, colonies and resources to capture mine, and build.

Instead of everyone being on the front lines, people could manage resources and colonies, people could fly and manage fleets, orbital stations, and ships. and of course the troops.

but to be fair to players. battles should be arranged like PvP battles in more Famous mmos. allowing players to join a queue to get in, and then everyone being taken to the battle location at the start.

How does a Halo MMO with a story line based on the all the books in order sound?

If it were set in the forerunner Era and you could play as forerunners, I guess they could be classes and you would have subclasses within them.
Let's take life workers. They could have a more, healing subclass/tree or maybe a more offensive one. It'd be hard for a life worker to figure it out but it cn be done. We could take the warrior-servant. Maybe one class tht deals more damage and another that is more defensive. Maybe the less defensive could have more than two constraint fields. The builders could maybe use drones and sentinels to attack or to go more on specialized object building. Maybe the miners would use their environments to their advantange. I'm not sure about engineers, maybe they would get cool gadgets that they have to build. Or maybe you get to be any of them and use a tree to orient yourself. So many possibilities.

i belive there was a Halo MMO being made around the time of halo 3 but was cut for some reason. Shame really, it sounded like it could be really fun.

Not at the minute. Halo is an FPS, lets keep it that way for the time being.

Halo is not just an FPS. It's more than an FPS.
Halo is not just an FPS. It's more than an FPS.
Halo is not just an FPS. It's more than an FPS.
Halo is not just an FPS. It's more than an FPS.

Do I need to repeat myself?

Im sorry, Halo is a unique and massive universe which story is told in animated shorts, novels, games, fan films, etc. but not in MMO's. Do i have to repeat myself?

But hearing all the ideas, I wouyldnt mind a Halo MMO. say for instance you could have an option at the start to join either the Infantry (Marine, ODST), Navy (Working on ships, captaining them) or Air Force (Pelicans, Falcons etc).

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Nope. An RPG, a FPS, an RTS, whatever, but not an MMO. The concept art for the Ensemble studios MMO that was cancelled was some of the most stupid looking Halo material I have ever seen. Spartans with orange dual energy blades (An attempt at "Scout Class" probably) and female Spartans in Mjolnir with their bellys exposed?

No, just no.

Just wanna see how you guys feel about a Halo MMO . Think it's a good idea?

What are we talking about here? An MMO or and MMORPG? I'd be down for an MMO, but I think an MMORPG would be kinda lame. I wouldn't want any role-playing beyond like character customization and stuff like that.

There was a Halo MMO being produced a while back, it got cancelled.

This is True.

Designated Pilot

i do like MMO games but i just dont think halo+MMO=fun
i think i'd just be really wierd

How?

Imagine this- You're a marine. You get online to get deployed into battle. You start in the hangar of a UNSC frigate. All around you are other marines moving about. You find a pelican that's about to get deployed and hop in the back. The pelican is controlled by a real person, and all the other marines inside are real. You wait a minute or two while the pelican descends through the atmosphere. As you near the ground, you can see the battle taking place below you. Hundreds of units and vehicles on both the UNSC and covenant side are fighting each other. The pelican behind you gets hit by a banshee bomb and explodes. Your pelican finds a clearing in the battle and touches down. As you hop out, you see hundreds of marines moving toward the front lines, some in vehicles. Off in the distance you see hundreds of covenant units(elites, jackals, brutes, some hunters- all controlled by people).

Are you a bad enough dude to save the president?

Random fact for those who don't know...

Ensemble Studios (company that made Halo Wars) was developing a Halo MMO alongside the now released RTS codenamed Titan and Orion. However, it was eventually cancelled to focus entirely on Halo Wars.

That mmo wasn't good.

Halo can be anything it can be. Halo should know no limits.

If we could have "classes".

Maybe something like this

UNSC

-Marine: Balanced, but has a higher attack than the Army Soldier. Has the option to become an ODST or Pilot at later levels. Players begin with the MA5C or MA5B.

-Army Soldier: Balanced like the Marine, but has higher defense. Option to become Army Ranger or a pilot(I'm not familiar with any Army Special Ops in Halo.)Players begin with the MA37 or M6J/C Carbine.

Spartan-II: (Has to be unlocked after playing as a Marine for a certain amount of time) Has higher stats than the other two classes, able to carry the Spartan Laser, detach turrets and dual wield. Equipped with MJOLNIR Mk. VI. Begins with the BR55HB SR Battle Rifle.

Spartan-III: (Has to be unlocked after playing as an Army Soldier for a certain amount of time) Similar to the Spartan-II, but not able to detach turrets. Has an Invisibility power. Equipped with SPI Mk. II. Begins with the MA5K Carbine.

COVENANT

Grunt: Similar to the Marine in terms of stats. (For gameplay reasons)Able to become Heavy Grunt (Able to wield FRG and Plasma Launcher) later on. Begins with Plasma Pistol or Needler. Able to drive Ghosts.

Jackal: Similar to Army Soldier. Able to become Sniper (Beam Rifle/ Focus Rifle and Carbine/Needle Rifle) later on. Begins with Plasma Pistol or Needler. Cannot drive vehicles.

Elite: (Unlocked after playing as a Grunt for a little bit) Completely balanced. Shield Strength increases as you go up in Rank. Able to choose between Active Camo and Anti Gravity Pack. Can dual wield like the Spartans. Able to drive all vehicles. Begins with Plasma Rifle.

Brute: (Unlocked after playing as a Jackal for a little while) Has high HP and strength (Not to be confused with Weapon Damage). Similar to the Elite, but cannot dual wield. Begins with Spike Rifle.

Oh! And IF, and only if, this was created would you guys like to see major events in the Halo timeline as different expansions?

Maybe the first is Harvest and (with patches unlocking new content) after all the main stuff is done a new expansion comes out. Reach (more patches)... then Earth? And then whatever Halo 4 goes to?

That sound cool?

  • 07.09.2011 8:53 PM PDT

I don't care. I really don't.

It sounds good, but I was thinking because of Halo's story, instead of a progressive world, it would be almost a campaign playthrough, where there would be different levels, except instead of small, restricted ones such as those in the current Halo's, it would be massive, open environments.

Essentially, a Halo campaign complete with cutscenes and all, except the levels take days to complete, and instead of four co-oping, thousands of players pitted against each other, with the different playthroughs acting different each time.

So an MMO, but not a persistent world, so the story can become so much more influential with major NPC characters, and it has an end to the campaign. However, because of new players, environment size and DLC and probably role-playing elements that affect the story's outcome, makes each playthrough unique and adds replay value.

Maybe the developer would initiate a playthrough every time one finishes, and playthrough can be joined at any time. That'd be awesome; carrying thousands of players through a story all experiencing it together. And no custscene skipping.

Just thinking, maybe.
