I don't care. I really don't.
It sounds good, but I was thinking because of Halo's story, instead of a progressive world, it would be almost a campaign playthrough, where there would be different levels, except instead of small, restricted ones such as those in the current Halo's, it would be massive, open environments.
Essentially, a Halo campaign complete with cutscenes and all, except the levels take days to complete, and instead of four co-oping, thousands of players pitted against each other, with the different playthroughs acting different each time.
So an MMO, but not a persistent world, so the story can become so much more influential with major NPC characters, and it has an end to the campaign. However, because of new players, environment size and DLC and probably role-playing elements that affect the story's outcome, makes each playthrough unique and adds replay value.
Maybe the developer would initiate a playthrough every time one finishes, and playthrough can be joined at any time. That'd be awesome; carrying thousands of players through a story all experiencing it together. And no custscene skipping.
Just thinking, maybe.
