Subject: Theory about the forerunners!

My friend brought this up to me a little while back, and I've been thinking about it more and more.

What if the Forerunners are more like Pfhorerunners.

For those of you who don't know who the Pfhor are, they are the the enemies in Marathon.

Like the Forerunners, they have 3 eyes, are tall thin bipedal beings. They also are similar to the Covenant, in that they have enslaved various races to do their bidding, and when the used the Halo array, they repopulated the galaxy, taking specimens back to their planets. So when their race is back up and running, they have all this information and the technology to get there and enslave whomever they want.

Also, it's talked about in the Halo 3 terminals that they have the power to nova a star, an ability I've only heard of the Pfhor being able to do this as well.

And if you're thinking the Forerunners were a noble and kind race, they wouldn't enslave other species. All it takes is one evil, or misguided, or arrogant leader to start something like that, which any race or species would have.

Now, as far as I've seen, there's been no concrete evidence that Halo and Marathon are even in the same universe, other than the Marathon symbol being the Forerunner symbol for Reclaimer. But so far there's been nothing saying it's not, which would be VERY easy for Bungie to do.

There are other things leading toward this being much more possible, but I'm not as much of a Marathon and Halo nerd as my friend, so I can't tell you for sure what they are.

Ohhey bro7her, nice avatar you got there.

The Pfhor didn't have the power to nova a star though, the trih xeem was a Jjaro creation.

And Bungie wouldn't want to link Marathon to Halo, then Microsoft would...well, you know.

There are other things that could relate the Marathon universe to the Halo universe. The evil entity the W'rkncacnter could be the Flood, and Yrro and Pthia could be Diaddact and the Librarian. Just a thought.

I always thought Yrro was meant to be a sort of mythic representation of the entire Jjaro race.

I like Halo games, nuff said.

Two words:

The Mantle

Well, they could have easily gotten it earlier. Since the Jjaro left the Galaxy millions of years ago, it would have been before the Halo Arrays were fired, and they would have had some Jjaro technology then.

And yeah, they're not going to admit that anything copyrighted by Microsoft is in Marathon, but they could have meant it from the beginning, and could get around the copyright if they wanted to, I don't know, remake Marathon, they could.

You and I both know that Marathon will never be remade, and shouldn't be.

That's what my friend thought for a while, but then he started thinking that he might be a Pfhor, from the Forerunner time. And in the terminals in Halo 3, if I remember correctly, D talks about how after the Flood is gone they can ascend, or something, or move on, how they were so close to it, and he might be talking about doing what the Jjaro did and escaping the universe. Read the terminals with this in mind, it's kind of interesting. Also thinking that the W'rkncacnter is the flood, which could be pretty interesting.

Have you played Infinity? Or read the manual?

We should know better, because we are better.

Forerunners are not noble and kind, their actions in Cyptum are proof of that. Forerunners do not have three eyes and are not all slender. Didact had arms like tree stumps. Did you read Cryptum?

And Halo is not the only place where the symbol pops up: the Tau empire have the same symbol as their flag and symbol for their homeworld.

Two words:

The Mantle

The first thing on the Halo Nation page for "The Mantle" is a quote from Librarian, part of that quote "...Can't you see? Belief in the Mantle sealed our doom!"

Not everyone believed that this was a good way to do things. After knowledge of what had happened it's very possible that when the Forerunner civilization came back they would take up they're place as guardians, but instead of making the same mistakes as last time, they just sent their troops to various planets. Heck, they might have even tried starting armies of different species, which after a while might have led to the enslavement of the species. Like I said, one evil, misguided, or arrogant person in a position of power can lead an entire nation or empire from the path of righteousness to a path of evil and selfishness.

I have played Infinity, but it was only once, and I might have missed something(I've done that before -_-) and I haven't read the manual yet(I didn't have it before), and I haven't read any of the books, though I want to.

I know that my knowledge of all this is not that broad, but I thought I'd post here and discuss it to find out more.

Well, let's just say that the Flood never demonstrated an ability to warp reality, send things through time, and survive a nova. Let's also say that no flood form would be able to survive living inside of a star. Good theory, but the Flood are not the Wrk.
