Earth is a long way away from being a focal point in the series. I view the series as small steps towards a final conclusion...
The Halo series and books were introductions to the Universe in the present; the threats it faces and a brief explanation of its histroy.
343's role (starting with Cryptum) is an explanation of the past, humanity's role via MC, and humanity's role immediately following the war. It will definitely consist of a full reveal of the Forerunner along with information about both the Precursor and the Flood. How much information (in regards to the latter two) remains to be seen. Ultimately, the Bear books will be answering the questions of what that planet in the reveal trailer is and why it's important enough for John to be heading there. It's like the prolonged flashback right before the those in the present begin to act on the events of the past. The games, most likely, will be centered on MC and what humanity must do in order to win the coming war. Travis' novels, I believe, will cover how humanity as a whole is rebuilding and reclaiming technology across the universe in addition to how the Elite alliance (and perhaps other alliances) are going.
Halo 6-9 (which will probably be the end of the series if it doesn't die before that) will most likely be centered on humanity (which has finally achieved its rightful place in the galaxy) and its allies fighting against an exceptionally powerful foe. Whether it's the Flood or something else will remain to be seen.
