Ok, don't get me wrong, I completely agree with the forum rules and I know firsthand that they do a ton of good for this forum. That being said, reading through them right now I can't help but think that they're a little rude. On one hand, the rules attempt to use 'legal language' with absurdly misused phrases such as "we reserve the right to..." that add little if any clarity and have the legal strength of a greeting card. On the other hand, however, the rules include meaningless and belittling lines such as "Nobody cares about your forum title." which are absurd when taken literally and nothing but condescending when taken how they're obviously meant. I love Bungie and I know from experience these forums need all the policing they can get, but it's not like they're 'intimidating' anyone with language like that and I, frankly, just find it patronizing.

If you take anything on this site seriously you should rethink visiting it. The internet is made of sarcasm and bad jokes. Bungie.net is no exception to this.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Could be worse. If they decided to they could just implememnt the old Flood rule of super harsh bans for any infraction.

Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.

i am not shawn from youtube, I created this username because I thought it was an unique name but if I could change it I would since it did not belong to me originally

Nothing wrong with the rules. Bungie is pretty lenient on their rules, like they'll give you warning if you are on very thin ice.

You have to take it all with a pinch of salt - don't over analyse something which isn't completely serious.

People say I may be rude as a drill sergeant. There is no truth in those assertions, I assure you. The way one of authority goes about enforcing one's might is up to them. It is not the duty of one's followers to question one's authority.

EDIT: Although I see what you mean since Achronos remastered the post. It was much more pleasant sounding when Yoozel revealed the same content.

You've only just noticed? I wouldn't be too concerned, though: you'll find yourself banned irrespective of whether or not you've broken a rule, since many moderators are sensitive souls.

I don't see how that would be worse. I wish EvilCam and Shishka (On a grumpy day) had a bastard stepchild who gained exponentially each of their cynicism, and terrorized the forums.

People might actually start thinking twice about what the crap they post.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I don't think they are rude, rules are rules.

Even taking into account that Bungie is never completely serious when they post something (NEVER!), they still say things in their rules that need saying. Trust me, you DO see people post pointless threads about their forum rank/title. And unless there's a genuine question that is being asked, or a concern that has not been brought up in the FAQ, nobody does care. It'd be like the billion and one "I HATE REACH!" or "I HATE AL!" threads out there. Personally, I think Bungie should be more strict with their rules, but with the huge number of people who frequent this place it's hard to do. This forum isn't so bad, but the Halo Reach one is terrible.

If you wanna see rude then make a topic that hits a nerve and you'll get the show of a lifetime.

Definitely this.

What are we supposed to be discussing here?

"Nothing in the 'Verse can stop me."

Some people need things to blunt and baseline to understand them. Rules are one type of thing that should always cater to that audience.

Some people just need to be held up against the wall and have it shoved down their throats. And half the time they still wont listen.

(No innuendo intended)
