Does anybody think that it would be a good idea to make a Halo Game based on the novel First Strike? I personally love the novel and theres plenty of action included. I would also like to see John with the other spartans and thier attempt to destroy the mustering Covenant fleet aboard the Unyielding Hierophant.

Fear the Red Comet

Variety is the spice of life.
Long live games.
Death to all fanboys.

None of the novels make for a great or even remotely good direct game adaptation.

There's barely any maneuvering room to add things within events, and the pacing and drama of events can only be achieved within the medium of a book. Not a game.

There were only three major engagements in First Strike, and only three. Boarding the Ascendant Justice, the extraction from Reach, and finally the strike on the Unyielding Hireophant. All of which were quick short encounters. Good gameplay it does it not make.

Hmm, i guess your right. What about one based on the Ghosts of Onyx? Good action on that (Spartan 3 battles, Fred and red team on Earth, Sentinels on Onyx, the arrival of the Covenant) and then continuing on to Grasslands which is being released soon...

Any game directly based on the novels will in my mind be a waste of resources that could of been used to tell another story.

Yeah... I don't really fancy half a dozen missions throwing rocks at Sentinels. That particular feature is being reserved for Halo: Cavemen Evolved where you're equipped with super-advanced weaponry (like the Rock Launcher).

Then what about Eric Nylund and other Halo Authors writing a novel speciafficly for a Halo game, working together with 343 and creating a new plot, story etc.

Do you mean a novel that will tie into a game or a novel that the game will be directly based off of?

Please no, id rather the canon with those books remain concrete. I would hate to find out that I spent my time reading those books to turn out to be a waste because some subpar story of a game triumphs a decent story of a book. And I'm not saying the story in the games are subpar, I'm just saying when comparing a story from a game to a book, the book's story is usually better
