Game: Learning what the true purpose of Halo is. Not just the revelation, but Spark referencing that humanity is the reclaimer to the forerunners technology. Very powerful speech. Best speech I've ever heard in a game.

Book: In first strike when John and co meet up with red team and Kelly immediately steps forward and gives the signal for a smile. You can really tell how relieved she is seeing him after all that has happened on Reach. Then she jumps in front of him, shielding him from the hunters canons and John immediately jumps in front of her after. Shows how close a bond they have. For some reason that is one of my favorite scenes in the novels.
I was hoping Noble Team showed this same bond, in Reach.
Personally I believe there shouldn't of been 6 Spartans in it. Not enough time to develop characters. Instead it would of been good if it were 2 or three close spartans.
Very true. Similar to the Halo Evolutions story; Headhunters.

When John first met Cortana and took the Mark V armor for a "test run" (Fall of Reach)

Kurt's final moments, Kelly vs Spartan-III's (Ghosts of Onyx)

as for the games, I liked everything about it except for the flood :/

Without the flood the entire plot of the games (Excluding Reach and ODST) are irrelevant. While they want to end the human covenant war as a soldier as it being the source of major conflict within the universe; the entirety of the games is to destroy the halo's because of their power and they were built to stop the flood further bringing us to the need to stop both before all sentient life is basically destroyed.

Therefore although we all hated the flood; they were a major factor in why everyone liked the game. Just saying :).

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

The one where Ripa gets owned.

  • 07.10.2011 8:37 PM PDT

From the Games:
ODST, the dogpile on the Brute.

From the books:
Ghosts of Onyx, Operation Prometheus--where the first wave of Spartan IIIs launch a suicide mission to take out a ship-building factory, that succeeds, but results in the deaths of all 300 of them.
Seriously, I would LOVE to play that opening chapter as an entire game.

Might as well list my favorite moment from each game/book.

Halo CE: Already stated.

Halo 2: The in atmosphere slipspace jump.

Halo 3: ODST: The drop.

Halo 3: Warthog Run

Halo Wars: Monsters cutscene. Obviously

Halo Reach: Zealot Ambush on Winter Contingency

Contact Harvest: Everything involving Lighter Than Some.

Cole Protocol: The riot.

Fall of Reach: Keyes Loop.

The Flood: I didn't really have a favorite scene.

First Strike: Turns out Kelly stepped in front of Halsey. Point still stands though.

Ghosts of Onyx: Kelly flipping off the sentinel. Just because of how bad ass it is. Tied with Kurts death.

Halo Crytum: Mendicant Bias causes all sorts of -blam!- to go down at the end.

Halo Legends: Blue Team tearing through the ship.

Terminals: Battle of the Maginot Sphere.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

There are too many to choose from between the books and games. I cant really choose one exactly.

That scene in Halo Wars when all the Spartans are fighting all the elites and the Spartans are doing like flips n -blam!- with dual S.M.G.s and then Sgt. Forge kills the Arbiter.

Cut scene at the end of the Halo 2 level "Regret."

Finally, someone who understands. I don't think I can claim any favorites, but I absolutely love this one. It is in the exact middle of the entire Trilogy, and captures the feeling of being on the foreign alien ring as MC runs along some temple reminiscent of Ancient Roman ruins or something to that effect. The music is perfectly integrated into the visuals, and the artistic display of Gravemind capturing the chief at the end and his poetic remark are memorable. All done in just 48 seconds. Top ten in the Trilogy with ease, but it is often overlooked in these threads.

Halo Scene as in cutscene? Halo Wars battle between the three spartans and the elites while that srgt. guy fights off the big bad Arby.

That cutscene was probably the best in the entire Halo saga. Graphics were awe inspiring, and the spartans just own all those elites like nobody's business. That's what I was expecting in Reach. Spartans clad in green Mark V fighting off thousands of enemies till victory or death.

That, or the last Halo 3 cutscene before the credits were Lord Hood shakes hands with the Arbiter. Gives you a real sense of peace and victory.

As for a book moment, the last moments at Reach in The Fall of Reach, the spartans' arrival on some planet I don't remember (but I remember the scene because the Marines thought they were screwed, but then this pelican flys down with Master Chief and other spartans walking out like they own the place), and the back story of Jenkins in Halo The Flood.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

One of my all-time favorite moments from the games is from Halo CE, when John is watching Jenkin's helmet-cam footage...

From the books, without a doubt, from the Fall of Reach, when John beat the -blam!- out of the ODSTs in the weight room. Bad...ass...

That's exactly what I was thinking. I felt much more attached to Roland and Jonah than I did to Noble Team.

Jake

For the games, I would probably have to say... The end to The Package , in Halo: Reach. The music as the Elite Generals are being dropped and your heart just starts pumping as you're nearing the end of the level...

From the books, probably everything from The Ghosts of Onyx and The Fall of Reach. Might fine books, if I say so myself.

Or definately Sam's death in The Fall of Reach. It made me sad; Sam was one of my favorites, I dunno why. And when Kelly "clung on to John" as they were flung out of the Covenant ship. I think they have a thing goin', on...

Novels:

Cole Protocol when the Spartan, Jai slams into Thel, the Elite Zealot, and Thel slams his head into him as they're struggling until he's coughing up blood
Pretty much everything from Fall of Reach and First Strike, the end of Ghosts of Onyx, and when the Oracle speaks and first contact with the Covenant in Contact Harvest

Games:

Destroying Halo, the end of Halo 2, the dialogue between Lord Hood and Master Chief, Killing Truth, Rescuing Cortana, end of Halo 3, drop scene in Halo 3: ODST, everything in Halo: Reach from the end of The Package onto the end of the game

.

"Happiness is like glass, you might not always notice it but if you change your view and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light."

I have 3 favorites.

Admiral Whitcombs nova explosion and his message.

Preston Cole's nuking of a sun.

Captain Keyes loop.

Game

Odst Drop Scene

When Master Chief teleports into High Charity and scares that grunt.

Theres alot more favorites but it would take too long to list all of them.

I cant believe I forgot about the Jenkins Camera on Halo 1.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):

ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

Halo CE:
- When you watch Pvt. Jenkins' helmet cam footage.

Halo 2
- "Sir, finishing this fight."

Halo 3
- The entire last level + the ending cutscene.

ODST
- Dropping into Mombasa.

Halo Wars
- The cutscene where Red team fights the elites, and when Forge kills the Arbiter.

Halo Reach
- The whole last level + the ending cutscene.
I'd roll with this. Those are mostly my favourite moments, except for Halo 3.

On The Ark, when you step out of the Pelican, and one of the marines says "Up there, in the sky.. is that--". I always look up, and admire the scope of it.

As for books?
I love when the Spartans have to ditch the Pelican in either TFoR or First Strike, and freefall down to Reach.

Cutscene- Halo Wars-"Monsters"

Book- FoR when John punches the missile to deflect it

  • 07.11.2011 9:34 PM PDT

I Love Bungie

My four favorite cutscenes were:

Halo CE - The escape pod cutscene.

Halo 2 - Using the bomb to destroy the covenant frigate

Halo 3 - The forward unto dawn droping off the tanks

Halo: Reach - Tip of the spear cutscene

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

From the books, my favorite is either when Kelly flipped off the sentinels, or when John pushed a missle. From the games, either the part where John first comes out of the dropship thing in CE, or the drop in ODST.
