Subject: Halo 4 Warthog may have evolved

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Ok so it's been at least 5 years in between Halo 3 and Halo 4. In the trilogy, the difference in the Warthogs is very little, since they're all probably the same model.
Now the Warthog is a signature vehicle to the Halo series and is one of the images that tells a person "oh look it's Halo." So the Warthog HAS to appear in Halo 4.
But with the time that has passed by, the UNSC has worked on the Warthog and it's quite possible different than what we're used to.
Are any of you ready for a redesigned Warthog? This also applies to the various other vehicles and aircraft.

Good argument. I think, though, that the "not broke, not fixing it" reasoning is applied to the warthog.

I would very much appreciate an update to the Mongoose--maybe one that automatically rights itself.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I find it hard to believe an inanimate object is capable of undergoing evolution.

Didn't Wars start in 2530? I remember the intro video saying how it took them 5 years to recover Harvest after all.

I write poetry, I write short-stories, I listen to hip-hop (80s&90s), Reggae, Classic Rock n Roll, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Blues, and the 60s, 70s.

Chief is by himself, at the end of Halo 3 he has one known warthog from the hanger of the Forward Unto Dawn. So if Halo 4 starts off with John waking up I doubt his one warthog will look different.

I think the warthog should have a seaworthy update to it. that or the mongoose. Bungie would never allow us to be in the water too far without dying or modding but what if the warthog or mongoose was given an update so that it would transform into a sort of boat or jet ski so that way the battlefield could be expanded even further than just the ground and sky and it would be even funner to play halo.

he has somewhat of a point... people can convert civilian automobiles to be able to "drive?" in water... a handful of people in San Francisco own them... so its possible

It's in the nature of a warthog and of most of the military vehicles to be heavy and resistant. So they won't be able to swim.
As long as John stays alone in the Space (with no one of the UNSC) his Warthog won't change because it's the same as in Halo 3...

I think it should still have the same core image. Maybe different detail and different weapons but it still needs to look like a Warthog. Otherwise it will lose it's "Oh, Look! It's Halo." feeling.

We don't even know that the Warthog will be in Halo 4.

But can we not hope? It would be fairly stupid to not include the vehicle that most defines Halo. But there is always the possibility.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

If the Warthog is in Halo 4, I doubt it'll change that much.

I think the possibility is higher than you think. Chief is flying towards an alien planet. We don't know that human tech will even be in this game.

The only problem with that is...what would fill the human weapon gap? The weapons would need to be similar to human weapons, or serve the same purpose. The vehicles would too if the warthog is out.

But I wouldn't be surprised if everything we're used to was taken out. Think about it...what would be a better way to make the start of a Halo trilogy fresh than replacing all of the weapons in vehicles while keeping the core gameplay?

The same year that the SPARTAN-III program began.

That could be true. But it would be a lot of work for 343. I think the easier approach to it is that the planet has been colonized by ONI (ONI Research Facilities) but not civilians.

It is an alien planet, sure. But ONI has a knack for keeping secrets and they could be used easily as a way to get around canon issues.

So, it would make a lot more sense if ONI actually was on the planet beforehand. This would mean they have security, etc. At the end of the day, it's an easy way to re-introduce human weapons into the planet.

But, we shall see on the day of Halo 4's release. I am excited to see how 343 handles the story.

That's really interesting. I was trying to figure out how they could even justify humans being on this planet, but ONI makes sense...

I don't know, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth in single combat. And Morgoth came.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

I imagine there'd be at least one Warthog in the cargo bay of the Dawn... there was a Scorpion before it tumbled out. There's high chances that a Warthog or two is still sitting somewhere in the cargo bay.

As to what it will look like? No different. I can't see why there'd be any other Warthogs at this point, 'cause we don't even know if the UNSC will be in Halo 4 or not.

I already asked you to stop being annoying, neglecting to comply will prove to be rather...annoying. Do you see a trend here?

Born Jan / 7 / 1994
If you had a 5th grade education you'd know that means I'm not too young to play M rated games.

Maybe add the transport hog.

If the campaign has sentinels (forerunner tech) make a jury rigged sentinel hog/vehicle.
Replace the ghost with a sentinel hover scooter/bike.
Work with that.

(If they keep forge)
Decide team colors or decals like flames.

  • 07.11.2011 3:18 AM PDT

The Hog has changed little over the years because it was a reliable concept that didn't need change.
In a way, you could say it was the AK-47 amongst vehicles.

In Halo 4 I wouldn't count on any changes. If there are any Hogs (possible, because there were a few stashed in the back part of the wreck which Chief is also on) then those will be the same Hogs that also appeared in Halo 3.

That far into unknown space, with only Cortana active (and no: she doesn't have the means or capabilities to make physical changes to technology etc) there is no way we're going to see changes in the Hog's design.
