and i would like to know if it's acceptable to make a somewhat controversial yet nonoffensive group, if it doesn't exist?

i was thinking about making a group for people on b.net who like to enjoy the activities of hunting and target practicing and are pro-guns...

To the best of my knowledge...

You can pretty much create a group for whatever reason you want, as long as it doesn't violate the ToS or the CoC.

I, personally, would read both of them throughly and then decide on whether or not to create such a group.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I am sure you can but if it gets out of hand Achronos will nuke it, hard!

My future is certain, I will one day fly away. All because I am saved from the penalty of sin. I know he lives.

Are you looking for a proval?

I think that a group for what ever reason is fine. Just as long as you are not causeing bodily harm or discussing causing bodily harm to others or your self.

Say if you make a group that disscusses fire arms and your likes and disslikes, IMO, that should be fine. But you start talking about which rifel will take out a person running at 20 mph from 200 yards better, then you shouldn't start it.

And for the guy that stated "SearchBar", seriously, was that really needed?

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

When you click the Create a Group button, you are told this:

Before creating a group, you should familiarize yourself with the community of the 7th Column. Basically, the 7th Column is made up of fan run groups that usually represent collections of players that are local to each other (although there are exceptions). Inappropriate names, mottos, or descriptions are not allowed - don't violate the code of conduct! The 7th Column is the way you can carve out your own niche in the Bungie community and run it yourself - but in doing so, you must deal with all the issues of running such a group yourself. Bungie will not mediate personal disputes, and the public forum moderators have no authority or visiblity to your groups either. Please note that you cannot create a group until your account has been active for at least 14 days.Underlined and in bold is the part you should pay attention to. That's all the info you should need :)

There's no reason you can't make a group like that. You can make a pro-abortion group and still be well within the limits of the CoC. As long as your group isn't participating or encouraging illegal activities or distributing illegal material you're pretty much in the clear.

Just remember, you are on a GAMING website not a political debating website.

Yes, but we still have groups liek The Black Chapter, which is pretty much the place to talk about Politics and such.
Groups like Brothers In Christ, and the like.

Bungie may be a game dev, but the private groups can be used for whatever purpose we want, as long as we don't violate the ToS or the CoC.

What does that have to do with anything? Not only are you allowed to make private political chapters but I've seen Achronos personally encourage it. Just because this website is the home of a game developer doesn't mean that the user content created has to be relevant to that.

Nowhere in the ToU or CoC does it say "You may only talk about video games".

Okay, I was just pointing out the obvious about the purpose of Bungie.net.

But, Achronos has been known to nuke groups that become to controversial.

But he could try making the group and as long as nothing bad is posted often in the group, it should be fine.

I would put a large sum of money on the fact that Achronos doesn't 'nuke' groups for fun.

Any group that has been manually nuked by him has severely violated the ToS and the CoC.

He doesn't just nuke 'controversial' groups, otherwise The Black Chapter would've been gone a long time ago.

Oh, and the purpose of the 7th Column, is the groups. We create the groups and talk about the stuff we want to talk about. (As long as they fall within the ToS and CoC)

B.Net is a community made out of whatever we want it to be, thanks to the group feature.

I never said he nuked groups for fun, I said when they violated the rules.

(as you repeated).

Sometimes when you make a group that is contraversal, conversations can end up breaking many rules to the point the web team pulls the plug.

I am only saying it happens.

No it doesn't. Groups are never nuked for being "too controversial". They are nuked for egregious violation of the CoC or US law. A group will never, and has never been nuked for the beliefs that it was set up to support.

The only groups I have heard about getting cut are groups that heavily share and distribute pr0nography.

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

SCFH

It's a private group. Your group is Private, meaning Bungie shouldn't be allowed to have any impact on it as long as it does not violate the law or code of conduct.
