Let there be light, created from fire

I am all i am, i am a team player(when im not pissed), i make great strategies, i will punch you in the face after armor locking, you have to be at sniper distance to not get headshot by my DMR or pistol, wraiths beware, i am DxXOrangesXxD and i am ready to rumble! (When Halo 4 comes out cause Reach is nothing but crap players now)

Is the majority of bungie members illiterate or something? Whats the problem? Id really like to know why its so difficult just to read 3-4 paragraphs.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

It is it difficult to add a short summary?

It's not difficult to read a long piece of text as long as it has paragraphs, punctuation and good spelling.
If it lacks any of them, then I'm not going to read it.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I like reading quick OPs.

If I see like a 3 page OP, I exit the thread.

No wonder nothing gets done around here, everyone has a short attention span.

It seems to me that a lot of those threads are people trying to put one sentence of information into four paragraphs of text. If it really takes four paragraphs to explain an issue, it's usually a decent read. If it doesn't, there's just a lot of repetition.

Everytime someone sacks my groceries, I think of Loaf.

Why must you feel the need to write an essay on here? Most threads last a few minutes, why would we waste our time on something too long when it could summarized and to the point.

My future is certain, I will one day fly away. All because I am saved from the penalty of sin. I know he lives.

A wall of text is just that, now paragraphs. No breaks inbetween. Reading soemthing like that can bring haviock to your eyes.

You better close this sig when your done.

When I'm tired I really can't pay attention to something huge, and other times its just poorly written. If I'm wide awake and its written properly, I may read it if its something I'm interested in.

Speaking of illiteracy....

To answer your question OP, many times threads would have no punctuation, no capitalization, no paragraph structure, and just be about 20 lines long. How can you honestly expect me to read that?

For the wall's of text that are nicely formatted, I usually just read the first paragraph and the last one so I can tell what the thread is about, if I care enough about it, I'll go ahead and read the whole thing - but I usually don't care enough to do that.

You're asking people to state which non-released game they like better?

It's like asking a virgin whether they like being on top or on bottom.

Bungie.net is full of children who fail who not only fail at creative writing, but lack the many skills of grammar and punctuation. To be frank, they couldn't throw a decent bit together unless copypasta was served for dinner that night. You can't expect me to read something that I would only read if my own child had wrote it: those are stories only a parent could love.

The very few well written posts also get overlooked and set aside because these same children have the exact amount, or lack of, of dedication for reading as they do writing(Even including the language they speak for that matter.).

>mfw the hypocrisy and irony of the original post is beyond me

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

The Button

When the OP makes a stupid thread and has horrible grammar, punctuation, etc. then I'm not going to read it.

A true wall of text is a big post with no paragraphs, and typically grammar errors. People who say TL;DR to a well-constructed post with paragraphs and grammar are probably illiterate.

  • 07.11.2011 11:16 AM PDT

Wort, wort, wort!

OP, I'm assuming you are talking about your topic called, "Halo is going down the drain,".

I'm going to sincere with you: I didn't read it. Nor would I want to read it. Judging from selected sentences, it is very repetitive. You mention four paragraphs worth or problems that have been repeatably talked about since November 2010.

In your thread, I don't know what you are suggesting. Now, I may have an idea... but it isn't clear and that is the problem. The first sentence should be enough to let me know what the topic is about. Heck, even the title should be enough.

We aren't your middle-school English teachers grading your final essay. We are a bunch of hyperactive gamers with little attention span. Make your point loud and clear, please.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm not going to read it, but it is more a struggle to read it than a pleasure.

And I'm going to add, even if your grasp on the English language is nothing short of perfect, if the paragraphs have no content to them (if there's nothing to get from reading them...) I'm not going to read them.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

I always lose my place, and its hard to keep my concentration for so long, especially on the interent, so i usually break up my reading times, so i suggest OP's with a large text wall should put breaks in it, makes it easier on the eye.

It's not that reading's not accomplishable, it's just that it's not visually appealing to see a wall of text.

This seems pretty close to the reason. Nobody wants to be forced to read a bunch of stuff that isn't very interesting. I myself will exit a thread if something doesn't catch my eye within the first couple sentences. If it is interesting though, I'll read the entire thing.
