Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

can we all agree the elites in halo 2 are simply bada55!, first time i saw a gold elite in the game, in thought DAMN that is crazy!, bungie did a great job improving their armour appearance from C.E. the elites armour in HALO 3 was disappointing, their armour looks too robotic, it was better in 2 and 1 when it was more smooth and reptilian like so i never used them in multiplayer because they're not as intimidating and bada55. halo reach elites look -BLAM!-, what was bungie thinking! their armour makes them look wierd, especially the feet and head. i hope they dont -BLAM!- up their armour in HALO C.E.A and HALO 4 like they've already done in reach.

To be honest with you, I believe that far the warrior sects that Halo: Combat Evolved had the best looking. Those include minors, majors, and fleet commanders.

For the special operations and other kinds such as the Elite Honer Guards or Counselors, of course I would agree with you! Who would not! I'm guessing you think I am a traitor for the first part though?

How come? In Halo: Combat Evolved, the soldier type of elites that I discussed not only were the least hunched over, as that is commonly the biggest concern with elites throughout the series, but they had the right looking armor.

It was sharp, shiny, and sleek. Notice how the texture coloration changes with the light and keeps its overall shine. Astonishing it was to me back in '01, and still is today. Halo 2 elites seem to loose that shine. They also seemed to get rid of the original helmets. I liked them better.

So, for the mainstream elites of Halo, it is in my belief that Halo 2 may have the second best, but Halo Combat Evolved prevailed. For special classes, Halo 2 most definitely topped it off with the Elite Honor Guards.

Lol nothing, I was just kind of being a poo head. Players that used Elites in Matchmaking were automatically labeled "bad." Don't ask me why that is just the way it was.

I remember my clan mates and I went into Team Snipers one time on our high level accounts and we were all elites. Lulz were to be had...but more lulz were to be had after we won.

I miss you Halo 2.

CE Elites had the best. 2 and 3 had second best.

Reach Elites were aliens from another Sangheili universe. I liked Ultra Elites though.

This!!!!

It should be noted that Zealot shine is distinct from Elite regulars. Zealots and stealth Elites share the same type of body.

The squids were the tastiest of the bunch.

that picture of a white elite isnt an in game screen shot though, they're more shiny in game, but i agree the sleek, shiny elite armour in C.E looked good.

what do you think of the elites armour in reach scotty?

the fact that elites eyes are more revealed and visible in3 makes them look less menacing to me. it's better in 2 and C.E were you can barely see it

Who would disagree? I cannot begin to fathom why they got rid of that beautiful, alien shine.

My opinion of the elites in Reach, you inquire? Well, although that is an entirely different matter, I will tell you that they ruined my favorite thing about the elites: their armor statures.

Originally, and especially in Halo 2, the blue soldiers were unquestionably the minors, red ere notably the majors, black and white were of special sects, and gold were ship commanders and general leaders. Special armor permutations were distributed almost exclusively to the skew to military elites such as counselors, honor guards, and mister one of a kind after the stupendous battle in the mausoleum...

Reach nullified the cannon of elite's military ratings design, at least that's how I see it. Even if you put all of the elaborate molding of their armor aside, the minor still does not look good. I don't mean that lightly either.

All in all the different armors in Halo: Reach are cool, but to me, do not fit Elites.

but they don't look like what they're suppose to look like imo, their smooth armour style which ends in spikes like the helmet, wrists, ankles... made them look reptilian like in C.E and 2 which was good. in 3 it had to many details and the style was more polygon like then smooth so they looked like robots.
the minor elite class in reach would have look better if the helmet was bigger

it even looks good on the brutes, remember how they took the elites armour in 2. brutes in halo 3 look terrible because they shaved their fur of (kind of ruins their description of being wild 'ape like' beasts) wouldn't you agree?

well made thread.

I like how you worked in the links into your argument without presenting them separably.

also the halo 2 one you choose sort of looks like a rhino lol. (a very cool rhino though).

I like the gold ones alot

what do you think of my brute comment, about them shaving their fur off ruining their ape like appearance and not matching their aggressive behaviour?

Reach also gave them the wrong health/shields.

Elite Minors are supposed to be easy to kill. Elite majors are supposed to be a little bit tougher but still easy. What I find in Reach is that Elite majors can resist one melee after their shields go down without flinching and the Elite minors have unrealistic shield recharge rate, way too fast. Hell, I find Elite minors more threatening/menacing than Ultra Elites.

I do too, but Halo 2 tarnished their armor by adding brown to it.

Well in all honesty, making it look like an animal is one thing, but the fact that they need to wear armor rather than half naked strikes me fancy.

When it comes to Elites I mainly think of one word, warrior. Just like Spartans, they get armored up and frankly I think they look cool and fearsome in armor. But isn't thatwhat we are going for? more details from Halo 2 on the X Box and Halo 3 on the X Box 360 a much better graphics engine? I don't think they look robotic at all, perhaps it maybe your personal preconception.

Halo Reach Elites are terrible period. Chicken legs, very 3rd world ugly faces and the helmets are just last minute rip off ideas that to me isn't intimidating or scary if I was a Spartan fighting them.

For me it goes like this:

Elites-
Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo C.E., Halo Reach

The reason why I chose Halo 2 over Halo C.E. was simply just graphics. Let's all be honest now, Halo C.E. graphics aren't that impressive compared to Halo 2's.

First off, any and all Elites are not supposed to be easy, which includes minors. Not only in the book "The Fall of Reach" does it depict the Chief struggling for his life with a minor, but also it says in the Halo 2 strategy guide that normal humans are no match for any Elite, and Spartans are just a match...

Also, melee strength in Reach will not be as extraordinary as it would normally be in comparison to Halo 2, as you are a cheaper version of the same class super soldier. (Spartan IIIs are not as strong.)

I do, however, agree completely that Reach's Elites were offbeat to that of, say, Halo 2's warriors. In Halo 2, there was an obvious class difference despite the pretty armor permutations. In Reach, the prettier the more pitiful, or so it would seem by previous logic...

But that was back in the days. There's also that anime episode The Package. Chief loses in a sword fight with a major Elite. And there's his first encounter with the Flood. Nearly overwhelmed.

Now Chief's a badass. But Noble Six was a badass from the start. So Elite minors shouldn't even be a problem for him. The Lone Wolf cutscene depicts someone who can handle multiple Elites with no problem.

haha 'offbeat', well said. if the elites in HALO C.E.A or HALO 4 don't look good then we need a weapon which fires a stream of polish and a cloth as a sword counterpart to improve their appearance and make me, scotty and anyone else who misses their shine.
