Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

How does the most successful original Xbox game turn into a complete disaster while being ported to the PC? Is it Hired Gun's fault? Or is it Microsoft's fault for hiring Hired Gun?

I mean holy hell, support for the game was cut before its 1-year anniversary!? Even with the patches that were released, it barely improved anything...the patches actually gave birth to new problems.

2007-2008 was Halo 2 Vista's golden years and that is sad if you think about it. Every now and then I still want to get my Halo 2 fix but I can't even seem to stay on the Server List for 20 minutes before logging off. I have played this game since release and I will still check it out every now and then.

A PC port that had HUGE potential fell flat on its face and it is just dissapointing. With a proper port, this game would still be going strong...but with the rediculous requirements and no support this game was bound for failure.

Just makes me sad =(

I like the gameplay.

Me too. Unfortunately, just about everything else about H2V is -blam!-.

This is the sad realization.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am probably one of the biggest Halo 2 fanboys on this Forum but what I am posting is simply the truth.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Honestly, it would have failed even if it was a perfect carbon-copy port of the Xbox version. PC gamers just really don't wanna play a game with auto-aim.

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

Unfortunately, the PC versions of Halo have not been as moderated as they could have been, or as maintained, either. The golden years were indeed golden, though, almost platinum, and they'll forever hold a place in my memory. Right next to the lovely first image of the Gravemind.

Most of H2V's audience were console gamers simply looking for a simple way to play Halo 2 again, rather than hardcore PC gamers. Unfortunately it failed both audiences.

Halo Reach PC über alles!

I think that its safe to say that

To be perfectly serious, this is a sort of derpressing scenario. Lesson learned: Don't make a community a promise, Hired Gun, when you know you can't keep it.

Anyways, in about five years the source code to the Blam engine will be released or something, and an open-source project will pop up hopefully, and eventually we'll have Halo 1, 2, and Stubbs all working on one engine.

I can't fault Hired Gun for this. Microsoft instructed them what to do. Microsoft was looking for a launch vehicle for its GFWL effort. Instead of making a PC game they tried to use Halo 2 to sell Windows Live. I don't think Hired Gun ever had a chance because of the parameters M$ placed on them.

Completely agreed. Every time Microsoft steps in to do something with gaming the PC ends up getting screwed. That's a given.

Sigh... remember the good old days of Freelancer, Dungeon Siege, and Midtown Madness?
