Okay, let's be honest guys: Bungie.net has a bit of a reputation for having d-bags populate the forums. If you don't believe me, head over to the Halo: Reach forums and just read the topic names. If you've ever seen an episode of Arby n the Chief, you'd probably know that the principle characters are based not only on Halo players themselves but also on Bungie.net users.
However, despite the site's reputation and willingness of several members to keep up that reputation, I'd say these forums are rather tame for some of the others I was a part of. Bungie took many steps to prevent anyone from being a super-jerk by removing swearing and offensive language and by removing things like posting images.
This raised a question for me: exactly what are the best and worst video game forums online? Not in terms of, let's say information, but in terms of the frequent users and how often they mistreat of act in an inappropriate manner.
Let's start with the worst. In my opinion, the worst forums I've been apart of are The Escapist forums. I was an active member of that site for a period of about thre months, and during that time I couldn't post a single thread or comment without some d-bag creating an inappropriate quote. And the forums message you when a post is quoted, which people abuse severely. Despite being a huge fan of the news and videos The Escapist is famous for, their forums forced me to stop using my account completely.
The best forums in my opinion are the Bioware forums. The tone of every member on that site is like we're all apart of an inside joke and everyone's automatically friends. Just scrolling through comments, you have to smile at the silly references dotting everyone's signature and the "I was there for that" moments involving the comments.
Just curious about everyone else's experiences.
