Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

In this thread: any kind of discussion, speculation or debate about anything Forerunner. Or alternatively, appreciate the awe-inspiring nature of what they left behind, as seen in Halo CE, 2 and 3.

My first question for debate is this: what kind of main weapon do you think the Forerunner military would use (note: I haven't read Halo: Cryptum, so if it is mentioned in there, sorry!). I.e the UNSC provide ballistic rifles such as the MA5 or BR55, the Covenant use Plasma-based firearms such as the Plasma Rifle and Plasma Repeater.

They fight by hand with their body suits.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

I imagine Light. They use bridges made of Hard Light, so I'd guess that they use light or another form of radiation as energy weapons.

I'd imagine that gun in the halo legends videos, where it looks like some jazzed up energy blade- but wait!- it's a gun!

This is an interesting idea and seems plausible, however I can only ponder that it would be very good for sniping/concealing your location, as the "hard light" fired from a weapon would lead right back to you, similar to how a Sentinel Beam reveals location.

Well, the weapons they use as depicted in the book are a combination of light and plasma beams. So either or.

They also seem to use gravity as a weapon, where in Cryptum the pulled a planet apart--literally--by yanking large slabs of crust clean off and spinning them upside down, bringing them crashing back into the planet with devestating Armageddon-type force.

So plasma, light and gravity.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Aren't the Covenant weapons based or reverse engineered from Forerunner technology?

I may know a bit more tomorow and as I take notes.

"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

I want a Halo game where I play as The Didact.

I don't know why not many people aren't replying to this.

This is basically the let's research and post all out findings on the forerunner thread.

lol, I wish the Covenant could have repurposed that technology.

We'd have been screwed even more in that case.

Let's start with a hard subject: Hard light:

How do you guys think it works/what can it be used for?

Write down everything you know.

'life is a stare down with death himself'

I'm guessing something on the lines of the sentinel beam, but much better.
on topic: hard light can be used for any number of things. from bridges to doors, and from shield to swords.

I always imagined the bridges in Forerunner installations (Halo level in CE, bridge in The Ark and The Covenant and inside the Halo's) are made out of hard light.

Well, I imagine it's highly 'compressed' light radiation... like the equivalent of our "laser".

What could it be used for? Bridges, platforms, shields, ammunition... if you want to get 'civil', then I guess it could have made lights in Forerunner houses.

If you are correct, my question is how it could be used without incinerating whatever it touches?
