Subject: Group recruiting- Frowned upon?

You know, you are absolutely correct. This community has returned to a point of infancy in human morals. It must stop in order for Bungie.net to became a greater, cleaner, and funner domain.

The stupendous quantity of users within the online forums has previously lead me to believe that the internet is in fact a hostile environment by birth. No more should we submit to such doltishness. If everyone simply knows their place, then I am certain there would not be such tension in trivial matters such as private group invites. However, due to endless sin, so previously blamed for was the webmaster, things will not change over night, unfortunately.

Seven is the darkest number. However, you require light to register darkness, otherwise it would not exist. This contrast is mandatory. It is time for us mere community users to help one another out in the enlightenment and altogether road of ascension known as the path.

A wise man wept for the slightest sin. Are we so desensitized that we fail to offer even the most basic courtesies to our fellow brethren? You all know the answer. Do not fool yourself, as the empirical data is evident on a daily basis. That does not mean it should continue.

In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender.

That was a nice wall of text you sent me about your group OP.

It's the equivalent of a door to door salesman. No one wanted the product on their own accord and now someone is forcing it upon them. Some may be fine and actually want to buy the product but others will absolutely not want it under any circumstances.

By mass recruiting you're trying to convince people join something they had no intention of in the first place. Some people find it intrusive, annoying, and just genuinely spammy.

Spot on, couldn't agree more.

It has all to do with the excitement of having a new message in your inbox, signifying somebody acknowledges my existence! only for it to be a copy-pasted group recruitment message.

:(

I pretty much always check out groups I'm invited into. There aren't many reasons why I shouldn't.

I've sent a lot of recruitment messages for the various groups I've been in, and the only rude messages I get are from "those members that think they're better than everyone else" and "those members who have no idea how a group functions".

Everyone else seems to be fine with getting messages, since they actually reply, "No thank you." Or just not at all.

The copy/paste huge messages detailing the group usually get the most grief, so I keep my messages short and to the point and personalize them a little.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

The thing about group recruitment is 3/4s of the time the people know they are in the wrong forum.

Heck, I have even asked them about it. They said, "the forum looks dead".

And, it is supposed to look dead. You don't discuss in the classifieds, you just join in the request.

But, if more people stopped making assumptions and used the forum it would be a lot better.
