I think it should, I want/need to have 4 groups in my sig, as well as 3 quotes. Plus, i want to put my motto in but there is only enough room 4 half. I think there should definetly be a limet, but a larger limet. What do you guys think? Sorry about the spelling^^^.

I'm of the opinion that the average signature is too long as it is.

It's fine as it is. You really dont need to write an essay in your sig.

I tried tinyurl, but I can't get it to turn into a link {call me a noob, I know}

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Personally I always hot the limit and am forced to delete some things. The Links which take up very little screen space, use alot of characters.

I don't mind, but it wouldn't let me put the first line of the quote in my sig. Ah well, it still retains the message.

Here, its simple. Just follow these instructions to the letter and nothing will go wrong.

1) Go to http://tinyurl.com/
2) Copy the url you want to shorten
3) Paste it in the only spot available on the page. You will see it, it is in the middle and you cannot miss it. Put it there.
4) click either 'enter' or on the 'MakeTinyURL' button right after the area where you paste your original url.
5) See the one you have on the next page. It will be a weird assortment of letters and/or numbers that follows 'tinyurl.com'. You can't miss it.
6) Copy and paste it wherever you like, and when you use it for your URL, it will load to the page you want.
7) Repeat as required.

As for the sig, i think it could be a little longer, although we should be thankful for what we have. I mean, i'm glad to even have a sig, let alone 500 characters. I don't think pictures are necessary and length-wise its a little short, but that makes you pick and choose the most important of things. We don't want everyone to be walking advertisements, ya know?

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

As much as I love* the ASCII Peter Griffins, Rifles, Snipers, and bunnies, I really don't think that enlarging the charcter limit would be a good idea.

I hear ya. I saw a sig that was a bunch of Japanese symbols... ten straight lines. Then again, my sig has eight lines, so it is pretty large.

Well, if everyone had their links named with two characters, then yes, they could fit 11.

There is no need for over 500 if you use tiny url. Great idea Recon.

 • 03.01.2006 4:55 PM PDT

No. Most of the time nobody else cares what you have in your sig, to them it's just taking up space on their screen, and huge ones are just plain annoying IMO. If all you want is to put a couple of very long URLs in then fair enough, but you have the option to use that tinyurl thingy, and some people will abuse it and just fill up half your screen with their newly-allowed spam.

No offense, but it can also be abused. Not saying it has, but it could be really easy to take advantage of. But I'll say no more; don't want to give some people ideas.

Edit: But hey I think I'll use it.

I'll be on my own side.

It's fine as it is. We don't need room for more Peter Griffins and Battle Rifles.

I put 2 quotes, and 4 links, with room to spare(I think). What more do you need? If you want more room to write stuff, go get a blog.

Recon makes a very good point. If nobody wants to read what you have to say, nobody wants to read your sig either. So if you're an idiot, you should be worried about your lack of brains, not sig space.
